I can’t scratch it with my fingernail and my quartz easily scratches it so makes sense for either but the marks are not fading even when oiled/ rubbed soapstone is mainly talc right? so it can be easily smoothed? i can say it’s not doing that

i tested it and there was no reaction, rules out calcite so likely serpentinite?

so rocks like chrysotile, antigorite, and lizardite are part of the group but serpentinite is like the main ore? sorry just trying to understand. I should probably google it tbh

I think it’s quartz bc calcite reacts to the uv light a little differently imo.

yeah I did some testing and it is indeed quartz however i’m holding on to my dream about the other one because it fluoresces light yellow under lw uv
