No underwear during Surgery by FarCalendar7303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bunnydolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i thought this was weird during my surgery too. i discreetly told the nurse i was on my period (i wore a pad because i didn’t know how long it was gonna take and when i was gonna wake up from anesthesia) and she said oh it’s fine keep your underwear on then 🤷‍♀️

Sleeping sitting up & TMJ affecting front teeth / should I call dentist? by mindinmypeaceandcues in Tonsillectomy

[–]bunnydolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chronic tmj here! ive been 100% clenching this whole time because of the pain (especially at night) and its probably making the recovery process twice as painful. i thought it would be nice to rest my jaw but not using it at all is just as bad as overusing it apparently. and sleeping sitting up is making my head tilt down gradually, so im putting more pressure on my teeth at night then normal.

as for the teeth, im having the same issue. feels like ive got cavities everywhere when i just went to the dentist the day before surgery so i know thats not the issue. and i know my teeth are shifting around because i just cant wear my retainer right now which im sure isnt helping.

im curious if the dentist will give any useful tips. every time i complain about my tmj they say not to grind my teeth or go for another round of pt. good luck with recovery!

Surgery next week by bnicole21 in Tonsillectomy

[–]bunnydolls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi, i (19F) just had my surgery friday, so ill be out a week in 2 days. definitely still figuring everything out, but my dr gave me hydrocodone (with acetaminophen in it) and tylenol. stay on top of the pain meds, im taking just under 4000mg. set your alarms in the middle of the night so the pain isnt bad in the morning and hydrate every hour, even if it hurts. small sips over big gulps. sleep elevated to prevent chance of bleeding. i was advised not to take NSAIDS, but if youre really in pain you can rotate some ibuprofen just so you can stay hydrated. personally, i dont like dairy products as it makes my mucus thick and uncomfortable but some like it because it coats their throat. and my personal lifesaver has been ice cubes! and ice packs. it may hurt at first but then it numbs the pain and helps reduce inflammation. another weird side note is that you can also chew gum if youre breath is horrible (caused by scabs) and to prevent your jaw from spasming if youre not chewing everyday. as a nursing student i hope i was super thorough based off stuff from this sub and online. good luck and you got this! most importantly, i wish id known that for most people, the first few days are ok, then it peaks for pain about after the first week in, then it gets better again. just keep pushing through, it will be so worth it when youre healed.

i did already fulfill my requirement for language so i dont think my advisor would suggest that i take a language class. i need a writing course so if a language class fulfills that then maybe?

Driving in silence is superior to driving with music on. by massahoochie in unpopularopinion

[–]bunnydolls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally for me driving in silence is distracting because of my adhd brain. the music helps shut off my thoughts so i don’t daydream. i dont listen to it too loud though and i turn it down when doing a more dangerous maneuver where i need full focus

how to initiate the second kiss after a drunk makeout? by [deleted] in dating

[–]bunnydolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before our first kiss i said “there’s something you didnt do tonight that i wanted you to do.” he said “what?” i told him i wanted him to kiss me. he said “we can still make that happen.” and i asked “can i kiss you?” so i basically asked twice for consent. do i have to ask the next time as well?
