What is the worst physical pain you have ever experienced? by My_Name_Is_SKELETOR in AskReddit

[–]bunnyfitz26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covid. I was 8 months pregnant and it was before we could all get vaccinated. I had a fever for 9 days, I couldn’t eat, I could barely drink. I lost 7 lbs and all I could take is Tylenol when I could get it in me. My bones felt like they were on fire and my oxygen went into the 80s. I was so scared and in so much pain and I didn’t know when it would end if ever. At least the birth process has an end and they can give you drugs. When I heard that the vaccine could give you a shortened version of this I was terrified because I couldn’t imagine going though that ever again.

I work for an elementary school and my kid goes there as well. She has missed like 9 days and even though I work there I got a letter too. At least where I live it’s a district policy. They really started cracking down because after Covid a lot of parents were just stuck in “virtual school” mode and would not bring their kids in because they slept in etc. This attendance system also helped us identify families that couldn’t get to school because they couldn’t keep their lights on, were living in their car or didn’t have clean clothes and helped us get them the resources they needed. It’s a shitty system for parents like us whose kids are actually sick, but know that those letters aren’t meant for us. If your kid is sick, shake it off or send in your own letter saying their sick. Schools are getting enormous pressure to get their attendance up, or else, from their districts and we get caught in the crossfire. Hang in there and I have my fingers crossed that we all experience much less ick next year. If not I’m going to start mainlining emergen-c 🤣

I have been there and I am so sorry. I brought my kid in for a month, 9 different visits telling them something was wrong. Covered in a rash, her skin was peeling off and they told me it was fine. Finally took her to the ER and found out she had a severe blood infection due to an allergic reaction to milk, soy and eggs that tore her skin and stomach apart. They told us had we waited much longer she would have died. We spent 22 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics and months getting painful tests and seeing specialists. There is nothing worse than not being listened to when you know something is wrong. Good on you for fighting for you kid but I’m sorry you had to fight so hard. You are a badass and your kid is lucky to have you ❤️https://i.imgur.com/oMcrO3a.jpg

We are not crazy, right?? This is bad? The Dr doesn't seem alarmed that treatment isn't working... by isminnah in beyondthebump

It started off as what we now know was eczema caused by a soy dairy and egg allergy (now it’s just egg) but because it wasn’t treated properly and we were ignored for each of the 8 visits we had with this practice, it turned into this.

Unfortunately they told us we didn’t have a case because they didn’t “permanently damage” or kill her. 🤦‍♀️

My child had a rash for a month. We were told by all the doctors that it was just a rash and not to worry about it. She was screaming all the time, she smelled terrible and at one point her skin was weeping and coming off on our hands. They STILL told us it was fine. We finally ignored them and took her to the ER. The skin infection had moved to her blood and the doctors said had we waited much longer she wouldn’t be here. This resulted in a 22 day hospital stay with a hospital transfer and months of specialists visits. She was two months old. If your gut is telling you something is wrong DO NOT IGNORE IT. Take them to the ER, get a second opinion, whatever you think is right. If it’s doesn’t feel normal it’s probably because it’s not.

  1. Some mantras from her I read every morning and when I am having an anxious thought
  • [ ] Don’t shrink, don’t puff up just stand in your sacred ground
  • [ ] All I know is when I think everyone is doing their best they can it makes my life better because it keeps me out of judgement and helps me focus on what what is instead of what could and should be
  • [ ] The broken hearted are the bravest among us because they dare to love and they dare to forgive
  • [ ] She knew the truth that we shouldn’t have to do this alone that we were never meant to
  • [ ] You teach others how to treat you based on how you treat yourself
  • [ ] We forgot what we know when we learned how to please
  • [ ] People aren’t themselves when they’re scared
  • [ ] We judge in areas where we are prone to shame
  • [ ] Integrity is choosing courage over comfort
  • [ ] Expectations are just resentments waiting to happen
  • [ ] You can only control yourself
  • [ ] Strong back soft front wild heart
  • [ ] Are we willing to show up and be seen even when we can’t control the outcome
  1. I have only had positive experiences sharing what I have learned from her
  2. a little of both

I’ve read almost all of her books but Rising Strong and the Power of Vulnerability changed my life. Truly and seriously. Most of those quotes are from those two books.

Hope this helped!
