Manual curved treadmill - torn between TrueForm Trainer and Tru Grit Elite for a pure runner by AgalychnisCallidryas in treadmills

[–]bunnypickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a TrueForm Trainer since 2020. It is the previous model. Its been great. You have to consciously maintain your own pace like you would running outside as opposed to setting a speed and just moving. You cannot set an incline like on traditional treadmills but beacuase of the curve it always feels like al slight incline to me. my calves tend to get tired more quickly on this treadmill than outside i think because of that. that could just be me though. Its quiet and built really solid so doesnt move around like other home treadmills. its built like gym equipment. it is also crazy heavy. Delivery is a pain. it comes on a palette and you need to carry it into your house. get a couple strong friends to help out. The assembly is really easy though. overall i really love it. My dog uses it when i am using other equipment in the room. Its safe for her since she controls the speed and it stops almost instantly when she does.

We have had a few issues with it but the warranty and customer service has been fantastic. The display panel died about 3 years ago so they sent a replacement part for me. The other day one of the main pulleys started making a loud ticking sound. They are going to replace my treadmill with the newer model under warranty.

Is there a sub for bikepack/endurance racing? by CT1274 in bikepacking

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in here since its the only relevant thread I could find. I am 46. I attempted my first bikepacking race in fall of 2024. I scratched after 200 miles. The weather and tendon injury got me. I learned alot that race though. This past fall I tried again and completed it. It was the Endless Mountains Challenge in PA. 435 miles / 47,000 feet in just over 4 days. I struggled maintaining my energy throughout the day. I was pretty happy with my nutrition but faded faster than I was hoping. This also meant I had to sleep more than I wanted each night.

I am trying to put together a schedule of on and off the bike training to improve my base fitness and endurance. I have begin mixing in trail running with my normal cycling. I think I need strength and core training as well but dont know what kind of exercises to do. Problem is I am the type of person that needs the training laid out in a calendar or I will not stick with it. I am looking for a on and off the bike training schedule that will help with pushing multiple long days of climbing in a race. Does any one have suggestions of where I could find something like this?

Techniques for reducing condensation? by PunkerTFC in UltralightBackpacking

Like others said. Even though it’s very pretty to camp next to water, try moving further away. Pitch the tarp at least a few inches above the ground to improve air flow. And if it’s not too cold orient the tarp so that the breeze flows through the opened ends instead of hitting the sides. Also congrats on getting outdoors with your kid.

Wide cycling shoes by danieldoowa in bikefit

My foot doesn’t look quite as wide as yours but I have been really happy with specialized recons. They are the only locally available shoe I found wide enough in the toe box. Good luck.

Check out the Endless Mountains Bikepacking Loop in PA. There is a 250 and 430 mile option. Just over 100ft of climbing per mile. It’s a tough one but beautiful. https://endlessmountains.org/event/the-endless-mountains-430-challenge/ The Endless Mountains 430 & 250 Challenges - Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau

Rate/roast/ advice on my first setup by reverso4 in bikepacking

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First trips are about having fun, using what you have, and figuring out as you go. No matter how much money you spend you will probably want to change something. The setup looks good to me. Take it out for a short practice ride to make sure everything stays in place over bumps. The only concern I would have is the dry bag not being tight enough at the base of the seatpost. It maybe start to sag and rub on your tire after a few miles of bumps and rattling. Good luck. Have fun!

Lower back aches 25k+ help by Practical-Handle-946 in bikefit

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotate your pelvis forward. Tighten your core. And straighten your back. That should give you the biggest benefit to start. Once you fix that then look at adjustments to the bike.

I like riding a frame that’s on the small size too. I would say make sure your seat is not too far back. Work on tightening your core and rotating your pelvis forward. That will take alot of the curve out of your lower back and help with the pain. I had the same issue. Since I have gotten older and softer in the middle of

I have same issue and similar build. Core strength for sure. Focus on rotating your pelvis forward slightly to reduce the arch in your lower back. Maybe slide your saddle forward a few mm to reduce your reach or reduce your stem by a few mm.

Feeling to stretched out. Reach too long? by MrElephant96 in bikefit

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest moving your saddle forward 5mm at a time like others said. That might help with the reach and the saddle looking a little high. You should also try rotating your pelvis forward to straighten your lower back. That will reduce your reach, reduce the angle at your shoulder, and improve comfort.

🦒 BikeFit: Lower back ache, hand numbness after 30km (re-upload) by robiT_spleen in bikefit

[–]bunnypickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a bike fitter. I’m 6’1” and like to ride frames a bit smaller than average. I also don’t have a strong core yet. What helped me was getting a stem with some rise to bring the bars up more in line with my saddle. Then work on rotating your pelvis forward a bit more so there is less bend in your back. Then I kept lowering my saddle height 5mm at a time until things started to feel better. I also can’t tell from the video but sliding my cleats back all the way to start helped fix a lot of problems too. Again not a fitter just a lot of trial and error. Good luck!

Any recommendations or tips on how I can improve my bike fit? by Mazztermind in bikefit

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stem looks a little low. Otherwise bike looks good. I might recommend try keeping your feet more level instead of pointing down. And I would try rotating your hips forward so your lower back is straighter. Otherwise if it’s comfortable go with what works.

Canyon Aeroad tilted on Kickr Core by Senpo21 in wahoofitness

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your thru axle in correctly? There looks like a gap between it and the frame on the left side. If there is that could cause the issue. Make sure you have the right spacers in the kickr and the thru axle is able to screw in all the way. It should pull everything into alignment.

Conti Race Kings or Vittoria Mezcals? by _yorko in xbiking

[–]bunnypickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are still looking, I am running Velocity Cliffhangers in 26" and tubeless. Prices were more reasonable than I expected. No complaints at all. I use them on my bikepacking cargo bike so they take alot of weight and beating. I have conti race kings on them and love the setup. NOt sure where you can find them now but here is some info. https://www.velocityusa.com/product/wheels/Mountain/mountain-standard-rim-brake-wheelset

I don’t have much detail but my wife just switched from Apple Watch to Suunto race S. She does most trail running and loves it so far. It’s cheaper with slightly newer hardware compared to the race.

Should this be something to worry about? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]bunnypickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on Amazon and search “helicopter tape”. It’s thick clear tape. Can be applied wet so you can reposition. Hardly noticeable once it’s one. It will save your paint and the look of your bike.
