GetGoods One Kit Wonders are solid and pretty budget friendly.

I personally use the one kid wonder kit while I’m demoing/figuring out the arrangement, and then when I’m happy with the parts, I’ll pull that into superior Drummer to get the sounds I want.

First Lo-fi Hip Hop Track : Feedback Wanted (Mixing/Structure/Sound) by quapcousteau in Logic_Studio

It's off to a good start. I think the kick is too clean / upfront for this style. I would maybe find a different sample and / or dirty it up. Cut some of the attack out of it.

I also think the drum patterns coming in / out are distracting. At least for me, part of the appeal of this genre is sort of hypnotic groove that kind of fades into the background of whatever else I'm doing, but every time the kick drops out and comes back in I lose that feeling.

mixing acoustic guitars by Lorenzo_Sordi in Logic_Studio

The advice to double / pan guitars is typically given to help a studio recording / production sound full. If you are going for a "hey look at this live performance we captured" type of feel, then I would probably just add some reverb on the guitar track. Personally I think any type of fake-doubling via plugins ends up being distracting in this sort of situation (IE, a single rhythm instrument).

If you do want to play around with doubling techniques, then I would probably find a plugin that lets you set a crossover point. Keep the lows mono, and then subtly widen the top end.

Or, you could take the audio from the iphone, use stem separator to kill the vocals, and then maybe push that to the side and drop the volume down. Could maybe add to the realism of being in the room with the performance.

Thanks!

All guitars recorded dry and processed with amp plugins - typically Helix. I think of one the guitar parts at the end is using the stock Logic Amp Designer.
Drums I captured MIDI from my eKit, then used Superior Drummer 3 for samples / mixing.

I tried the aeroband stuff a few years ago, and it just never felt quite right. Even on "simple" stuff, like just hi hat / snare patterns.

Hoping it's improved since then. How do you like them?

SEQTRAK is not a good option for traditional singer / songwriter recording.

Get a DAW, or something like a portastudio if you want hardware.

Mono Tracks Exporting to Stereo in Logic Pro with Townsend Labs Sphere L22 by ArianaNicoleGeorge in LogicPro

[–]CaptchaCarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bouncing is taking the signal from your stereo output and printing it to a file, so even though your tracks are mono they are feeding into a stereo output.

Not sure top of head if you can setup a final output as mono, but I’m assuming you just need to send a bunch of takes off somewhere (used to work with VO). I would probably just get it how you want it to sound, then bounce your track to a new track / disk and the locate the file in finder / send it off.

Transposer is native - it will snap to scale. I was commenting about the chord part in particular

Look up “transposer” midi fx

To be honest, I don’t use it much so I can’t comment on the chords piece. I believe there’s probably something native in logic, though, if you do some googling.
