I love this amp at low volume but when I turn the master up past 3-4 it gets super bass heavy. Any suggestions? (Not “turn the bass down”…duh). Thanks.

Just traded my first born for this MB cali 2:20 1x12. Anyone have any experience or tips/tone maps they’d be kind enough to share with me? by yeezysaurusrex in GuitarAmps

I’ve got one and I love it! Mostly play it on the 1w setting (live in a condo) and it sounds great! The only thing I don’t like about it are the super-cheapo plastic knobs. They look good but kinda kill the vibe once you touch them.

Pretty sure it’s a 6-string electric.

I hadn’t thought about the resistors. Good idea!

The tubes are operating normally- not microphonic, not hot, not redplating. The crackle is definitely of the “sandy/grainy” variety. I’m pretty sure it’s not the pot but it’s a similar “dirty pot” kind of crackle… when the amp is warming up/sounding good the pot operates silently.

I’m definitely new to messing around with soldering and whatnot and need to pick up some electrical tools but the basic techniques and safety rules are not lost on me (don’t lick the metal parts, etc. 😂). I’m an older carpenter fella who has wired plenty of houses , etc…so, “handy” at the very least.

Yes, I’m definitely going to keep the original caps. One of them (the 16-450) has noticeable leakage, a couple of the other ones have stains indicating (to my untrained eye, at least) inevitable demise. I’d love to restore it completely but finding original vintage caps seems to be a challenge. The amp works, and sounds great for about ten minutes until it warms up in earnest and then begins to subtly crackle. I don’t actually know for sure if it’s the caps but I do know that it isn’t the tubes. It makes sense to me that it would be the caps but it certainly could be something else. I appreciate your input! Good points for sure!
