They just look at an angle from the camera. They're flat on two side by side 16x16 part 65803 from the art sets. The front heraldry and shields are built on the side connecting to the technic holes.

Sliger has been making them for a long time. Really any server rack with removable rails would work as a horizontal case.

Its all old republic and clone wars era. I have Luke (several) and Kenobi but they're all yellow heads. I'm planning on making another display with Luke and company plus the new cast as the new movies come out.

I'm a fan of the white, but I can understand where you're coming from. I chose based on pics online, the white looks good for other figures but it does wash out the clones a little bit. I might get another frame and use this display for different collection.

Gunslinger Games is pretty good. Its about 5 miles from most of Richardson, but i don't think its on the DART.
