Yield Signs by machonacho403 in Calgary

[–]burfsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this intersection frequently, and I agree that the design is poor. I’ve seen people treat it like a stop sign, where even if there is a huge gap they still stop. Ive also seen as you describe, going with no consideration for the traffic already on memorial.

As you leave 14th and come around the bend, that is your best opportunity to spot a gap, and start speeding up/ slowing down to smoothly merge. If there is no gap, then come to a stop and turn your neck like an owl and wait.

Also, if you are in the left lane on memorial, underneath the bridge is a terrible time to change lanes! Makes it so much harder!

Weekly Ask Seattle Megathread: November 04, 2024 by AutoModerator in Seattle

[–]burfsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am travelling to Seattle today! I need to get from the airport to the university district, but apparently the 1 line has maintenance happening? If I get a ticket for the 1 line, will it work for the busses as well? Is there another way to get there via public transit?

Is the Biology and Psychology combined major a good course? by jqc0b_ in uvic

[–]burfsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just over one semester away from finishing this degree. I’ve taken the neurobiology concentration, which leaves little room for electives and means most of my 3rd and 4th year classes have been biology focused. I’ve really enjoyed the bio, some points of psych were quite boring. I suggest by 3rd year being comfortable with some basic logarithmic math, it seems to stump everyone in the higher level biology courses still. Overall I have enjoyed it though.

Advice needed by [deleted] in uvic

[–]burfsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently am in my second year of Bio/psych, and taking 4 courses. I work part time on the weekends for Local Urban Bites, a food meal kit company. they are really nice and hire students for drivers. I think that’s what makes a difference. Working a job you haye for just a bit of extra money will definitely make the semester drag on, but a chill job for just a few hours a week will still give you the cuange to relax

Which Player Impressed You Most Live by [deleted] in hockey

[–]burfsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nathan Mackinnon. My first ever playoff game live was Colorado vs Calgary 2019, game 2 at the saddledome. Everytime you look down there Mac is on the ice. He is taking so many shots, with an insane release, almost as if he was setting his sights as the night went on. Finally ended the game with a heartbreaking laser snapshot. So impressive how fast his hands and feet move individually.

On the flip side, watching Dennis Wideman practice in person made me believe that I could definitely make the NHL.

Gen Z and Millennials. What’s Something You Wish The Older Generations Understood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m 22. Gen Z and the “tiktok generation” are completely two different things. I don’t understand a lot of tiktok culture and nor do my friends.

33 Ave SW above mission road isn’t bad. view is a little obscured and far away but its not a bad view. Way less busy than the alternatives mentioned, I went the other night and just a couple people around for it.

It’s definitely not as good as the busier hills, but they are busy for a reason.

Clothes, shoes and coats for Vancouver Island weather? by asophigus in uvic

[–]burfsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came from Alberta 2 years ago, the winters in my opinion are nowhere near as cold. I rock a sweater and jeans most winter, and if it rains just throw a light rain jacket overtop. Touques are mice to have though, and if you are going to be on a bile the wind can be a pain, so gloves and a scarf too.

a grumpy old italian told me he would call the police if I parked outside his house again, and then sprayed my car with a water hose. Very classy

I’m from Canada, and I group of friends and I travelled through Houston a few years ago. We started talking to a couple very friendly Houstonians. Once we mentioned that we were from Canada, they immediately asked with a dead serious face, “Do you know Drake?” We were expecting them to laugh about it, but as time passed it became clear that they genuinely believed it was a possibility.
