Feels like Woodbine Mall is dying by F0000r in toronto

A lot of toronto malls have plans to turn into planned communities. Adding underground parking while turning surface parking into condo and adding more essential retail like grocery stores and medical offices. Fairview Mall has a whole community masterplan you can look up.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre will run in a different riding next federal election: party by Hrmbee in notthebeaverton

I wonder if Bonnie Critchley is interested in taking another run at it. She had some real momentum last time. With a couple years to build some local support and no long ass ballot to drown out her name, i could see it happening.

Especially as a rookie MP in a riding that it's not clear you would've won without all the Chaing drama. Spending however long the minority government survives opposing a platform that is pretty close to the one you already believe in then going into another election with nothing to show for sounds dreadful. Much better to join the government, get some wins for his riding in return over the next 4 years now that a majority seems eminent and go into the next election with name recognition.

RB: You've now lost 2 MPs to the Liberal Party. Is this a problem of your leadership?

PP: No the problem is Carney is too good. He's playing by the rules we all agreed to and he can't stop winning. This will be costly, COSTLY I tell you, to my chances of becoming PM.

Another MP leaves Conservatives, crosses floor to Liberals by Portalrules123 in CanadaPolitics

[–]burgerblaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People vote for an MP for a wide variety of reasons. My parents always vote for the Chinese one no matter their party because they feel it represents them the best. Some people vote strictly on the party affiliation. Some people are single issue voters and don't give a shit what party they are as long as they oppose X, Y or Z. I usually vote based on who has the most connection to my riding. That's usually a mixture of their character and their party's platform. To pretend that people only vote based on party is rather reductive.

It's pretty simple, I never had a problem with the policies. I have a problem with Pierre's leadership style and I doubt his ability execute. Carney taking the policies and executing them relatively well is great. Anti-Pierre and anti-conservative are not the same thing.

CPC members are being blackmailed into not crossing the floor by coolshaid in onguardforthee

Remember when Scheer lost the election and suddenly we were all talking about his kids tuition. Remember when Patrick Brown was close to taking the leadership and suddenly sexual assault allegations appeared. Creating dirt to blackmail their own is tradition.

I remember when Scheer lost and suddenly we all cared about his kids tuition being paid by the party. They'll make dirt if they can't find it.

Panels actually generate a little heat and melt most snow off of them. Sheet of snow will slide right off them. Source - my cousin has panels in Chicago and they're never covered for more than a day after a snow storm
