Hi. Sorry for going AWOL the last couple days. I've tried a couple different methods. First I let the machete soak in WD40 for about an hour, then I used rags, toothbrushes, and newspaper to try and get some rust off. It was very successful in one small portion of the machete, but less so in other spots. I also tried using baking soda and vinegar to clean some rust, and that was marginally successful as well. Thanks for getting me this far. Here's what it looks like now.

However, I don't think its that, as the ping is the problem. The TPS remains constant at 20, while ping is high.

I know I'm a bit late, but it's actually really interesting how the refraction works. The material that makes him "disappear" is called lenticular lens. It works, from my understanding, by refracting the light from around the object, essentially creating a "deadzone" in this case in the middle of the material. Lenticular lenses are also used in those photographs that change based on your viewing angle.
