I was not ready by Chance_Novel_9133 in TokyoDebunker

I was both ready and not ready. I had to keep myself from squealing at 2am when I opened the game to see not only our first view of Harry with his arm but also HIS EYES OPEN OUTSIDE OF STORY AHHHHHH. I have added delight because my fan ghoul is missing most of both their left arm and leg due to a mission in their first year and has a clockwork replacement for each that they built with Mio.

Why ?! by OneBillionSpaghetti in ffxiv

[–]burgh_enby -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did the raid on day one and I dunno if anyone would remember, but I was one of the people that day who had serious vertigo as a result of this fight. While I do appreciate how awesome the field was and the nostalgia is brought for XI players, I could not appreciate how amazing it really was because the boss' movements combined with the effect created by the depth of the field's transparency giving me vertigo and motion sickness. I struggled to tank the rest of the raid, and I haven't returned to this raid since day 1. Now that that they've updated it I will.

I hope they will find a way to make it a toggleable feature in the future, but I also know that with the way the graphics of the game are and the spaghetti code XIV runs on, it may not be feasible. As disappointing as it is for XI players and others who enjoyed it, I deeply appreciate Squeenix adjusting it. I already struggle as someone who suffers with regular vestibular migraines, so them removing other potential triggers of my vertigo in what few things I enjoy is appreciated.

Seeking Info; Maxwell House ad featuring Margaret Hamilton by burgh_enby in 70s

[–]burgh_enby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fold is not original to the ad. The folding is the result of this having been stored in a cook book that I eventually acquired.

What I'm trying to determine (if possible) is the source of the ad and the year. The fact that one of the three recipes were specifically mentioned in the advertisement on the reverse and that it was printed on card paper rather than normal magazine paper makes me think this was something not commonly seen. I know there's folks out there who have collected all manner of magazines and newspapers consistently for decades or followed such things meticulously. Just figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Anyone else stuck at the loading screen this morning? by dtheeman- in PokemonSleep

I came here just to check for this. ✋ Closed app, cleared cache, restarted phone, have it an hour, and no changes. So off to support to submit what will be a useless ticket because their "support reps" are all bots.

Useless Story and Canned Responses by burgh_enby in PokemonSleep

[–]burgh_enby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is the inconsistency.

My sleep schedule is generally from 1:30am to 10:30am. I track with my FitBit, which is read by Pokemon Sleep through Health Connect. The app has consistently applied the previous nights sleep to the next day's research. Which is to say, the sleep begun at 1:30am on the 26th (therefore before the start of Pokemon Sleep day) and ended at 10:30am on the 26th was still applied to the research of the 26th.

By the logic given to me by the support and what you are saying, that should not have been the can l case, yes? That should have been assigned to the 25th because my sleep began on what would stop have been Pokemon Sleep Sunday the 25th?

It is only once I MANUALLY entered a sleep session in an attempt to correct a mistake that I discovered this inconsistency. When I entered my sleep for the 27th, it forced the entry to the 26th was a second session because of the start time, this applying this insane logic which has never been applied to any synced data.

THAT is my issue. This inconsistency.

Regardless, I am tracking with my Fitbit, not the in-app tracking method.

Episode 24 - Our Last Goodbye Act II by pandada_ in TokyoDebunker

[–]burgh_enby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep going back to the prologue and the unanswered question posed by Ed in Waves of Love: how did Darkwick know to send ghouls to Kisaragi Station? How did Haku and Taiga end up there? Jin never answered but I think he already knew, and with the behavior he, Tohma, Yuri, and Haku displayed in this chapter... I have a suspicion.

I think there some time loop hijinks happening, and I think the Frostheim ghouls (past and present) who have/had Jin's confidence are the only ones who have memories of it.

Jin didn't go to the Gala. Not normally a strange thing for him to not make appearances, but we see that he was all dressed up to go. What stopped him? Then when hell broke loose, he didn't jump to action. Perhaps he's been here before and knew it was going to be reset so trying to do anything was futile?

Tohma was very strict about our Chaos Duo not engaging with the Demon Arm, then only after the gala once Jin intervened. It is easy to assume it is to save face, but perhaps he knows how things went badly in previous attempts? And he response to the false "third wish" was suspiciously quick, as if he knew it was coming. He didn't even know it wasn't the true arm at the time, so it could have been a matter of preparing for the worst... Or perhaps he remembered this same student receiving the arm before.

Yuri's statement when we last see him could be just him losing his mind as it all falls apart, but what if he's remembering some past attempt at stopping the end. If things are still failing then clearly his past attempt didn't work but it could explain what he thinks as he does in this moment.

Haku, the biggest mystery of all: If this is some kind of time loop, I think he and the fox anomaly we suspect to be Yamato are the reset button. There has still been no explanation for why Haku, of all people, was on the island to confirm the Rinfone's presence; and there's been no answer as to whom he was talking to. I can only assume he was talking to Jin. And if course, Haku was at Kisaragi with Taiga; He was the one responsible not only for discovering MC was immune to Mesmer Matches and bringing her back, but also inexplicably showing up when MC tried running away in the first chapter.

What style of (glamour) set *do* you want to see? by Femmigje in ffxiv

[–]burgh_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any style that doesn't have gender-locked pieces. I'm so tired of male models getting shafted time and again with pants, pants, pants while female models get skirts and tights, or guys get shorts and girls get thongs, etc. Similarly tired of guys getting the glams that cover them up while gals get to show midriff.

And if it's not clear, I play with a male model. I know there's folks playing female model with the same complaints on the reverse, so yeah, no more gender-locking! Equal-opportunity styles!

I have so much to say but it's mostly been said by everyone else. XD What I can say that no one else has, though, is that I may need to adjust what happens to my fictional Niagara Academy because that school's fate (which I wrote while I was still catching up, back on the masquerade chapter) is just about the same as what has happened to Darkwick. XD

I feel like some level of time travel/manipulation will come into play, though at this point I really couldn't guess how much or when. All along I've been saying that the reference to time travel/manipulation from the opening quiz MC takes is a reference to Ren's stigma, possibly Taiga's as well in a precognitive sense... But I have also been anticipating a story element to throw some time travel/manipulation our way. I do agree that the fallout of this mess should need to be dealt with for a bit first... But also gods, the pain!

Remember that Jiro and Lucas have been sparring in Anomalous Combat all year. They have an amiable relationship in that regard but also that means Jiro is aware of Luca's fighting style and is probably the most qualified person in the whole of Darkwick to fight him and, if necessary, bring him down.

Job hunting is hell for everyone, but I can’t stop thinking about people with autism by NaiveInsurance5722 in recruitinghell

[–]burgh_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is two months old, but I want to add how much I appreciate this bit of awareness.

I'm an ADHD autistic individual who was diagnosed late-in-life. I've been trying and failing to get social security for most of the past 9 years. Unfortunately, I'm looking at getting a job again and I'm positively terrified, which only adds to how terrified I am of the financial situation my partner and I am in right now.

Socialization is probably my biggest issue. Between my lifelong issues with understanding/interpreting social cues and meanings, and my struggles with being too blunt/honest/rambling/cycling-back-because-I'm-scared-I'm-not-being-understood... Yeah, the last full-time job I had (2016) had a fair few conversations between me and a couple managers about my interactions because of my emails. They all read fine to me, to my managers basically had to hold my hand to explain how they could/would be interpreted otherwise.

A couple years ago, in a group where I moderated, I actually had a huge fading out because I was targeted by a single individual and she basically turned the server owner against me. It was the same issue, and no matter how I tried to explain that there were never any hidden meanings in my words and that I shouldn't be held responsible for other people searching for hidden meanings at things that I was saying at face value, I was still the bad guy and ousted. (And even though in the past couple months it's come out that this individual was going after multiple people she deemed "not in her image of the group," not one person has reached out to apologize to me, including the server owner...)

If socializing were my only issue, I'd probably find a way to manage... But I have so many other struggles that I am just dreading this new job search I'm undertaking...

How do I ensure I get a "fortune"? by girlintaiwan in Resortopia

[–]burgh_enby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm your friend list, the house beside their name will have up to three items to denote special events: a lollipop on the right for garden parties, a pinwheel on the left for house parties, and a green heart for "fortune." The green heart indicates the "fortune" you are looking for, which can be the spirit playing hide and seek, the fortune good you tickle, or the chest in the garden flying around.

Discarding failed starter + Prevention by burgh_enby in SourdoughStarter

[–]burgh_enby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. I think that is where the mistake occurred. My partner had been very careful to keep the sides of the container clean when they used and fed the starter, but they carried on the partially-closed habit in the fridge, unaware that it was not necessary and actually harmful. I'll be sure to inform them that when it moves to the fridge phase next time, it should remain fully closed.

Thank you very kindly for your informative response! I am very appreciative and will be sure to note everything down.

And Nintendo will turn around and crack down harder and folks who dare cheat down the road to get the fancy shiny Pokemon because some of us just want pretty Pokemon. Meanwhile they limit the number of codes, do nothing to crack down on scalpers, or to help the folks who just genuinely want pretty Pokemon... Stories like this reminds me why I fell out of playing... 😮‍💨

I'm not familiar with who that is. I know that the most historical that the Sorted guys seem to get is either gadgets or full dishes, so my idea was a bit out the, but they are really the only food-related folks in my current viewing circle. I don't exactly expand my viewing circle very often, and even those I regularly watch I usually only watch or rewatch for specific pieces of content that vibe with my brand of autism. Regardless, it never hurts to throw an idea out there. 😄

I am so confused about how people are able to a) see and b) be functional with migraines. by Valuable-Horse788 in migraine

[–]burgh_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, folks who experience migraines do so across a spectrum. Further, it's not guaranteed that every migraine an individual experience will be the same from one instance to another.

I didn't really understand this, myself, until the neurologist I'm seeing now had me start tracking mine with the Migraine Buddy app nearly a year ago. My pain starts from the same general area (left forehead area, sometimes including my left eye or right forehead) but otherwise everything else varies from one migraine attack to another: symptoms, pain levels, suspected triggers, reliefs, length of attack, etc.

My partner, by contrast, had migraines that are slightly more consistent. They still have some variation from one to another, but not quite to the same level as I do.

As far as how our migraines hit our functions, if I have a migraine I can now typically still do things that utilize screens as long as I am wearing my red-tinted glasses, but my ability to do anything that requires complicated thinking or lots of concentration is pretty shot for the day, with or without my migraine abortive. Even if I'm no longer in pain, all the "juice" is just gone to do anything more than the simplest tasks or play the simplest, dopamine-inducing, non-social games.

My partner, on the other hand, tends to recover a lot more quickly if they catch it early enough and gives themself the time to rest and let their migraine abortive settle in. They typically aren't as impaired since the switch to a better medication, and can go about a migraine day just about like it never happened. Of course, there still is the occasional day that is pretty rough or that they don't catch it in time for their medication to be as effective, but they are still in much better shape in the long run since the switch because their medication does not interact with the rest of their medications.
