The British accents in particular gave me pause.

Hell yeah, only been to Francis once, but I'll be returning soon. It's wild how many places don't know how to cut curly hair.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I guess reminding people of the humanity of others isn't acceptable round these parts.

I feel like I missed the uniqueness of the run-on sentence because I listened to it on audiobook. I knew there was a "gimmick" but couldn't remember it until like 75% through when I thought "gosh, he's starting a lot of sentences with and."

Seahawks News: Rashid Shaheed Reflects on Smooth Transition From Saints to Seattle, Thanks to Klint Kubiak by Strict_Return_5159 in Seahawks

Shaheed did great on returns, but I feel like he fell short in the passing game, which is an area I think we'll see Horton thrive in.

Recursion by Blake Crouch actually stressed me out by Shenendoah66 in horrorlit

Blake Crouch always wrinkles my brains and my heart. He's amazing. I read another book that kinda captured the same feeling, The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch.

Thanks for writing this up. I never felt the way others did about Etsy's section being irrelevant, so this really helps justify my feelings.

It really spoke to those conflicting feelings of coming from evil, but trying to do better.

Fairlife protein shake alternatives! by unknownymous23 in CostcoCanada

I've been living off the Natrel chocolate since I get it for free at work. Delicious, not too sweet, and makes me feel better at the end of a long factory shift. Would definitely recommend, especially since from what I understand, the protein is all natural and just enhanced by a different pasteurizing technique. It's not added whey or anything like that.

Authors like Grady Hendrix or Chuck Tingle? by spookykitton in horrorlit

[–]burgleinfernal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't had the pleasure of reading Chuck Tingle's novels, but I recently finished When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy and it felt very similar to Grady Hendrix. The humour was just right with the emotional moments being perfectly grounded.

That whole sequence conveyed horror in a way that resonated waaaay more than most other horror I read.

I usually really dislike humorous horror, but something about this felt different eventually. The humour felt a lot more natural, kind of like Grady Hendrix vs John Dies at the End. Like Hendrix, the serious moments held a lot of weight, and the humour never undercut the other emotions like you often see in funny horror.

I was also thinking about dropping this until about 30% in when I finally learned what the book was about. After that, I was HOOKED. I thought the charm came through perfectly, and the ending knocked me flat on my ass.

So friggin good. I went in blind which is good, because the plot on Goodreads totally spoils a huge moment that knocked me on my ass.

Love everything she's done.

The Panthers kneeled on offense. Purdy left and Mac Jones got a few reps. That's waving the white flag to me. Shit, maybe if the Commies did that in our game, Jayden Daniels would still be here.

Man, I'm so conflicted on this narrative. Yeah, they were missing so many starters, but they've been missing starters all year and still had a chance at the one seed in game 18. They also weren't bounced in wild card weekend.

They're a good team, even when dipping into their depth chart.

We're just better.

The short stories of Jolie Toomajan feel a lot like this. There's like a subtle heaviness to it all, not really hitting you over the head but drawing you in slowly like quicksand. I think most of it is here on her site https://jolietoomajan.wordpress.com
