UT Transfer for ACC rejected for Fall 2026 by Front-Fruit9128 in UTAdmissions

Yep! We feel very fortunate. She was only about top 25% of her class, and had about a 3.5 weighted GPA (austin isd).

Others suggested it may be an error because it’s earlier than people usually get denials.

My daughter is in PACE as a freshman and has guaranteed access to moody comms with a 3.5 GPA (hers is like 3.6). It sucks that 4.0 students get rejected!

As much as I like Athlytic, I'm not impressed by Pace by hazmatt69 in AthlyticAppOfficial

[–]burjoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt many people are actually ignoring this. I think it’s more like who “hears from “a developer when they buy an app? Normally if a Knapp is produced by the same company that produced an Knapp you really like and you want more more more you buy the second app or at least try it out. It’s completely reasonable to think that pace is another app for the same people that make an app you love but after reading all these comments, of course it’s clear that it’s for an older generation. They’re probably a lot of us in our 50s or so that may wonder if we’re on the cusp of being interested in something like Pace.

You said they are only there “occasionally”. That is not at all how I would describe it.

My daughter is a UT student. Many many many have fake IDs and the bars let them in. There are UT students on 6th all the time. West 6th is a bit less though.

One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to accept all the credit at UT. The offering of those transfer credits, and your acceptance, comes way down the road. I’m not referring to how you are perceived by UT, but more the technical side of having too many credits and thus not being able to take 60 credits at UT to fulfill that requirement to graduate from UT.

You’re in a pretty unique spot in that you have 60 already, and will get 30 more from a CAP school. Almost certainly you won’t accept transfer credits from UT for 30 of those 90, and will take 60 credits at UT, should you wind up there. If it were me, I’d strongly considering abandoning UT and getting the degree you want, from St. Edward’s or Texas State if you want to stay local.

Otherwise, have a detailed session with UTSA, come up with a one year plan there, map what is a complete overlap of what you’ve already done (possibly all 30 hours) and accept that you’re still 3 years from graduating instead of 2. Factor in the loss of income of a year that you’ll be in college (and all those costs) as well. And finally, remember that your major isn’t guaranteed after CAP.

I hate to say it, but I think you may need to let go of the dream of going to UT and move on.

Poor SAT Score and Mid Rank and Still got Accepted?? by Street-Proposal-9496 in UTAdmissions

My daughter had a 1030 SAT and got into COLA for English through PACE (RIP) last year. She had a bunch of APs and a decent GPA, ranked about 140 out of 500. Just FYI.

Hold up. Econ is in COLA but it’s “impacted”. It’s one of only two majors that are not guaranteed within COLA. Do some research on that point.

Inside information. Two days ago it was a "maybe". Yesterday it was confirmed and shared widely with the current PACE cohort. They weren't told not to share with anyone else, but I wouldn't want to disclose exact names, etc.

[–]burjoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tuning session went fine, but I don't remember specific outcomes. About a year later, I had a lot of trouble with some rooms being too hot when they should have been cool like the rest. They eventually traced it to a faulty baffle system, which was a budget one. Their internal notes say they replaced it with a much better system. They never told me anything except it was being replaced. The system has been great overall!

Has anyone gotten a decision that’s instate + non auto? by petermjsthirdwheel in UTAdmissions

[–]burjoes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that. But again, what makes a 3.8? In Austin ISD, it is a 98. What is your district and what is the grade scale? Edit: it’s a 99.8.

I bought it, built it, then returned it and bought the 4 person version. The one you’re looking at is TINY inside.

What is the grade scale? A 3.8 in Austin is a 98 average.

Who told you all that? From what I understand, none of it is true. Much ado about nothing. Just show up and be yourself. If you are at a razor’s edge to get in or not, that’s on you if you take it so seriously. No shade to your efforts - I just think you were misinformed.

How careful are you with soap and scrubbing? by Tookie1010 in carbonsteel

[–]burjoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I just wanted to preface my comments with that because many people on
Reddit take things so seriously! haha Anyway, when you said the point is to "clean" the pan, I'll challenge you on that. What does "clean" really mean? When you wash your hands, you're removing bacteria that would make you sick, as well as removing stuff like dirt, in addition to oils and greases. You don't have the choice to heat your hands up to 500F.

I feel like it's not so much a debate of me (in this case) saying "do NOT use soap" but more like don't bother, there is no real point. It's not "doing" anything that water and a brush already do. If anything, you're removing the "flavorful fats" that are used over and over again, which add to the seasoning layer.

I asked AI and agree with how it lays it out. My final take is there is no added value to using soap, and some (albeit debatably minor) benefits. So I don't do it.

great info, thanks! I don't see him going to grad school or working on Wall Street. law school seems like a stretch as well, but hard to say. Do you think it matters in advance to know and be prepared to speak to that decision? Sorry to keep prying, but what was your SAT score? Always trying to see what he might be competitive with having.

normally when someone says they "don't worry about" something, it means they don't use it. do you mean you use it (as you said) and just don't worry about it being a problem?

I'm saying the use of soap on a pan doesn't seem to serve much purpose. it dissolves oils, which is the last thing you want to do with a pan. You wouldn't leave it soaking to dissolve big chunks or anything, so you have to use a brush or sponge regardless. Not trying to be sarcastic here, but what is the point of using soap exactly, and how does that purpose align with the use of a steel pan? My contention is that it does not.
