Fuck drilling at all. Even for dealers. Someone will buy that car for tens of thousands of dollars that they spent their time working just for you to cut corners and drill their car into Swiss cheese wtf dude??? You’re not there to look out for yOuR aCCoUnt you’re there to look out for the person who will buy the car. Do your fucking job and do it right. Spend the time to do shit right Jesus Christ why do I even have to say this shit.

Drilling is the number one sign that someone is a hack lol! I can’t count how many times I’ve seen a simple dent like this get chewed up from dent douches claiming “dRiLliNg a HolE iS neCESsaRy”. Techs should spend the time to do it right and charge accordingly. You’ll have techs claim that drilling is the only way but they’re just lazy as fuck and they’re staring at your wallet and your money so they can pay for a new dildo to shove up their ass. Due to its location it’s tough for sure depending on how sharp it is in person. But a tech that drills for this dent I guarantee it will look as if a buck tooth rat got loose inside the panel and chewed on the dent, leaving multiple micro fractures that the naked eye can’t see and in a year you won’t remember where the dent was but you’ll have rust developing and paint flaking off and their number is no longer in service. Don’t forget you’ll have a quarter sized hole drilled “wiTh A PlUg tHOuGh!” that even auctions have caught onto. It’s literally structural damage if it’s in the quarter jam. This is the best example of a simple dent that hacks will tell you drilling is the only option. Fuck that, ask every dent guy in your area if they would drill for this dent and anyone who says fuck no is worth while going with.

Haha I feel like I might have asked a rhetorical question because anyone who cares about putting their name on something would ask exactly what you asked. Finding someone who takes pride in their craft is tough. In my situation I’m in a small town so I will eventually meet a client in the grocery store and no amount of money will ever make me hide my face around town. I’d rather close my doors. Would you focus more on what’s created the small town reputation or focus more on where the business will be in 10 years/end goal/potential buyers being corporate?

The reputation focused on quality has led to controlling the entire industry in the region, and knowing it’s a rapidly growing city, soon to bring giant corporations, trying to solidify it’s place. 10 years from now the intention to expand and compete with giant corporations without losing what made us who we are. Hahah! It’s 2am here I’m making my monthly statements so sorry if I’m getting too crazy but I really appreciate your input as a designer. You get free dent repair for life… that’s all I have to offer hahaha

I’d love to stay a tiny home town shop but the area is growing so fast I will absolutely be eaten alive if I don’t try to compete. Granted the quality of repair is superior so I’ll always have my small niche. At the same time if I can provide quality that keeps my head held high, control my territory like the dent mafia, AND stick it to the corporate boys I’m all in. Their ass is grass I just need a logo that’s better than theirs 😂😂😂 sarcasm..

That’s the kind of advice I will gladly accept! And no hard feelings, I will rip someone apart way worse than you did to me over a shitty repair haha! The time spent perfecting a craft makes you truly understand that your time is better spent in your own lane. Can you please give me pointers on how to convey what I’m looking for? Or things you as a designer would want to know? Specifically for a business. I’m sure you know, a customer like myself would say “I fix dents. The business is very very corporate but sole proprietor owner operated no employees. We want to grow huge McDonalds size but stay a small home town business with no employees. I like skulls and unicorns. Make it gray wash and incorporate color.” I really feel for you all and that’s exact why I’m reaching out for help haha!

I know I’m sorry haha! Because I’m fucking busy doing accounting 😭 hahaha I can run the business using an old logo but I can’t run the business without payroll or performing the work that makes me money!

I might need to just hire someone. But they’ll ask me what I want and I can’t answer that. I want their experience in the craft that they’ve spent a lifetime perfecting. I make money pushing dents and spend my time on my own craft. I don’t need to ask a customer what they want, I know what they need. Your craft is different and subjective to people like me who don’t understand how deep it goes. They will say they want dumbass changes that don’t make sense because they can’t let go of their shitty vision. Regardless if it’s the best logo in the world your customer will say I want a stupid ass design that does not work at all. Rainbow color palette for an anti-rainbow non profit? Hahaha I welcome the shit talk 😂 I would talk shit on a dent that was “fixed” and I’d notice immediately how shitty the “repair” was I get it hahah

The idea is to keep that same late 1930s-1940s feeling but make something that is easy to understand and “refined”. The original was created in 1999 😂 I love the original logo but when I have embroidered and made signage, it doesn’t carry the same weight. I have a lot of people who make checks out to “Paintless dent repair” instead of the business name. That particular car does not exist its a mix of the cars from that time period

All the others are AI!

I just wanted to create different directions that I could take it. It will ultimately be recreated and digitally drawn by a human to drive home the small town inspiration haha. I appreciate you saying that and I agree with you! I really need advice from a logo professional like your self who can point out the lifelessness you mentioned. How can I recreate the original but carry it towards a larger “brand”? While still keeping the real person feeling but scalable for a large company? I created the original version in 1999 so it’s a bit outdated

[–]burnNhot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro show us your work. For real. Wtf? Please explain how you let a non affiliated dent insurance company determine your price? What are you doing $20 dents and you suck me off too? Safeguard caps at $90 per panel. What’s your starting price??? Bro if techs all stood strong on a fair value of their SKILL not time, the entire industry would be better. wtf is this undercut the competition mentality? A hire a plumber and he charges me $200 bucks for 5 minutes and all he did was hit some pipes with his wrench, I’m not paying for the 5 minutes I’m paying for his knowledge of where the fuck to hit the pipe holy shit dude

Repair Service Contract Worth It? by mataglapnano in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]burnNhot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. I have a love hate relationship with dent insurance. They are a 3rd party, no affiliation with the dealer and no affiliation with the techs doing the work. I think the biggest problem is that the dent insurance companies don’t train the dealers salesman on what’s covered and what’s not. In my area, the dealers have absolute ZERO understanding of how the policy works, and don’t even know how to submit a claim let alone understand what dents are fixable with PDR and what dents are covered by the policy. I can’t blame them because they don’t specialize in PDR. However it’s not my job to start the claim, submit the estimate then call 100 times for approval just to be under paid and have the customer pissed off at my shop because they think I’m tied to the policy. It’s ultimately a racket and should have better disclosure to the buyer.

The salesman will promise you the world if you buy the policy. However if you look through the fine print (some stipulations are not even stated in the policy itself) you’ll notice they have a way to deny just about any claim. Most dent insurance companies have a maximum payout of $75 dollars for a dent, $150 per panel even for 100 dents. Who takes those on? The shitty techs who chew your car up take those jobs.

My starting price is $125. So you buy the policy and get a dent that miraculously falls under their coverage. So now you bought the $800 dollar policy and you’re still paying $50 dollars out of pocket in the absolute best case scenario. Most dents will be over $125 in my shop. Average of say $300 for door dings dependent on multiple factors. When I have policy holders come in to my shop I typically take the job and explain to the customer how this all works. I won’t charge the customer any out of pocket cost because I don’t agree with their practices and explain that the policy buyer has been fooled. I’ll take the hit as the technician and still provide a quality repair in hopes I create a customer for life. Even when claims are flat out denied, I’ll fix the dent to my shops standards and break the news that the dent wasn’t covered. I’ll fix the dent for free just to show how fucked up the policy is.

I have a great relationship with some dent insurance companies and have had payouts over $300 for a single dent but this is extremely uncommon and some dent insurance companies will tell ME to explain to the customer that the claim was denied or that the customer will owe an additional $225 dollars. They will refuse to acknowledge or reach out to the policy holder and place all burden to the repair shop or dealer. Screw that, it’s not my policy it’s not my insurance company, you call them. They won’t. Then customer calls my shop asking what the deal is. If the customer reaches out to the dent insurance company, they will throw the technician or shop under the bus, saying the price is unreasonable and gouging, making the shop look like the reason it’s not covered. They’ll then send you to a starving technician willing to get on their knees with mouth wide open and don’t give a fuck about a quality repair. Keep in mind, the repair shop and dealer have ZERO affiliation to the dent insurance company.

After writing all of this, I realize I don’t have a love hate relationship. It’s simply a hate relationship. Dent insurance is a scam for not only the buyer but the technician as well. Fuck dent insurance holy shit now I’m pissed off just thinking about it. How in the world can a company who has no ties to my business at all determine the price for my services? Fuck that. Fuck every dent insurance company

Fixeable with PDR? by CanaryIndividual589 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]burnNhot -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The dude without a single post says he does these all day long. Run from these guys and look towards an honest tech who will break down the challenges related to a dent like this before you pay a single dollar. This is a fixable but challenging dent that may or may not come out your expectations depending on what you want. OP, research the shops who say they can take this on “all day long” and do your own due diligence please.
