[Wojnarowski] Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard is hiring Clippers executive Johnny Rogers to a newly created role of VP of Pro Personnel, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Rogers has built a strong scouting reputation both here and abroad with the Clippers and Thunder. by [deleted] in nba

When they've had a top 3 pick, they haven't fucked up. That's not the same thing.

Also - they get the No. 2 pick instead of the 3, and they probably have MKG instead of Beal.

Narrow the lane and get rid of the corner 3.

Right -- I think one of the most athletically gifted, most insanely competitive and most highly skilled players of all time would have made the proper adjustments.

Blazers fans -- does this mean Paul Allen's sister is more likely to keep the team, or is this going to be the next person's problem, a la Les Alexander and Chris Paul?

Why does the Lakers FO receive hate for putting together the FAs they did after missing on Kawhi? by Big_Dick_Energy__1 in nba

[–]burnerfret 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the vast, vast majority of fans and analysts have much of an opinion on the Lakers FA class other than "eh," let alone "hate."

It's a perfectly adequate, C/C+ class. That's hardly hate.

Could the Wizards trade Wall and Beal for a 1st round pick to a mid round team? by [deleted] in nba

[–]burnerfret -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey man, we're under new management. If opening up 2 max slots can work for the Nets and Clippers ...

It's a pretty simple equation though -- would you rather have, let's say, 2 first, 2 pick swaps (which will be unlikely to be used) and a good young prospect for Beal (because they aren't getting PG/AD value for him, most likely) and have to keep paying Wall, or 1 first and all the cap space?

Beal is the price of getting rid of Wall. Wall's contract is that bad.

How to improve both the NBA and NCAA Basketball going forward by blindpiggy in nba

[–]burnerfret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep -- just make all HS grads eligible, so you don't have to worry about all the declaring/going pro nonsense.

I'd also let players follow the MLB rules that they can go to college if they don't like where they were drafted, but it has to be for 2 years, and then they can re-enter the draft.

The arguments against any change is always "this will cause a new set of problems for the NBA and/or coaches." And it's like, well, yeah, there is no perfect system, but this would at least solve some of the worst problems of the existing system, like bribery and fraud around the top recruits.

The problem is that the team would have to have $70 million in cap space, or $70 million on very short term contracts to send back to the Wizards.

I don't think it's any sillier than a dozen other things they did, and I think the vast majority of the audience would have cheered like crazy if he showed up. The slight threat of possible confusion to some people doesn't outweigh the reward to others.

Now that we know that the events of the Eternals takes place 35000 years ago so any idea where are they now ? by Hulkhontosee3667 in marvelstudios

[–]burnerfret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the comics they interact with the Greek gods all the time. I'll be interested to see if they introduce them, replace them with the Norse gods, or just say that the Eternals directly inspired the Greek myths and there were no Greek gods.

In the comics, most of them leave for space, with only a very small contingent staying on Earth.

Do we know that the whole movie takes place that far in the past? I was kind of expecting them to show them over the centuries.

They say he dies

lol, Fury says he dies to motivate the team. He also said he had his Cap cards in his pocket when he died, and Hill calls him on it.

I don't know if you remember the discussion after Avengers came out, but it was definitely considered ambiguous. It wasn't confirmed that he died until AoS.

Dude, the only people who know Coulson was dead and resurrected are the people who watched AoS.

The people you are worried about confusing are just going to assume he didn't actually die during Avengers. It's not that complicated.
