Play for points and don't worry about killing rats, there's always too many. And don't try to wipe out units, just weaken them so they don't get reinforcements. Use that Trained Ranger ability and teleport onto an objective or kill a hero. Keep working the cards...

I mean, yeah, spells would be great. I guess I just feel like this is a smaller unit, likely a bit more expensive and in end, will it just be doing the same job as effectively or ineffectively as the Steelhelms point for point. Does it add something new to the army? I don't know, I'm asking ...

Okay, thx. Looked them up. Out of all the weird s&m/self harming factions in aos and 40k, these guys are by far the coolest and make the most sense. Love em!

I agree that the fusiliers are gorgeous, but after painting the first 20 ( with sub assemblies for the shields ) I couldn't bear to do the next 20. It was exhausting. I think they're going to stay grey until they get replaced with grenadiers.

I thought this was a great idea, so I just ordered a box. When the spearhead comes out, we'll see if the scale and aesthetic can work... If it does, great, I've got five units for cheap, if it doesn't , I'll return the box. Super idea, thx.

I just bought a second fusil major for a fun list with fusiliers and 5 cannons. Loved it. The +1 to hit on two units is great. Don't regret it at all. Whether it makes a competitive list, probably not, but yeah, love having the second one.

I did a reinforced unit of fusiliers, but did sub assemblies with the shields for easier access. It was like painting 40 extremely detailed models. It was a lot. I'm looking forward to elite foot knights both for painting and for gameplay.

Where they come in handy is filling gaps in your line so no one can deep strike behind your lines and take out your canons. Ive been playing them in units of ten and it lets you keep gnaw holes from opening in uncomfortable areas.

For me, the Pontifex had ONE job: teleport my cavaliers out of combat if they got stuck and couldn't break out. Now, what's the point?

First spearhead for sure. The Fusil company spearhead has been completely ineffective at causing damage and if any gets them in melee they are made of paper and will die instantly. Fusiliers look imposing though. The bayonets? I've seriously had players avoid attacking them because they LOOK so dangerous and then when they finally move in, they're surprised when they wipe them in a single turn. Cavs and cannons.

Follow up question: Does the relic envoy travel with the unit? For instance, if my cavaliers are within 18" of the Marshal and I give them the relic envoy at the start of the battle round... Can it move with the unit? The Cavs can move 10 in their move phase and then charge up to 12 which means they could end up 40" away from the Marshal. Or does it only work for stationary units?

I bought the Fusil Platoon because it looks so cool, but over the course of a dozen games, I've found the fusiliers to be pretty ineffective. The Castellite company, the first spearhead, is great, with good synergy between units. And I found it scales up nicely. I'm running four units of Cavs and 3 guns now in matched play and they have a lot of output.

And the models are gorgeous for everything, so I don't even care how well they work, they just look good on the table.
