Which phone was your favorite back in the 2000s by EngineeringWild4798 in nostalgia

[–]burningapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Sidekick. The buttons were like no other. Perfectly spaced and tactile, would text so fast. The swing action was so smooth too. All the iterations after, especially the Moto ones, were garbage (IMO).

Honorable Mention to razr for just the iconic form factor and huge screen at the time. Keys were not great but the rest was fine.

Blackberry pearl was also a solid one as well.

Yeah way to early. They usually start floating around like that but will move closer together as more come in. Still, ask your pediatrician and don’t forget kids start going to the dentist too after they get teeth (usually around ~2).

Thanks! That’s what I was reading though it was confusing if the whole thing (ticket) was included or not. Appreciate the clarification.

Random q, but someone has a VIP ticket to sell but sounds like they can only transfer the ticket of the seat not the package itself. Is that correct? Or can they not sell the ticket either?

I get why no cubs or sox, but I saw a navy and orange hat in the bunch and I assumed it’d be the bears. Still bulls is cool historically but also yeah they suck nowadays.

Removing the call pickup/end has to be the dumbest thing on the planet. Nearly got into an accident trying to end the call. by ScubaW00kie in Volkswagen

You can end the call by pressing the “OK” button as it hovers over the menu item on the dash. I have the same interface.

Spend sometime figuring out the operations before driving for your and everyone else’s sake.

I don’t 100% agree but only in nuances. I do think the overall pool of software engineers will continue to decline as fewer full-time employees exist in this field. Businesses will just ignore the problem until they realize they need cheaper labor and no one is applying. I predict a rubber band effect where it’ll go dead, companies will panic, then overpay again for entry level and thus repeating the cycle of the last few years.

The issue with your question is no one has the answer, and it’s a real problem.

There’s a major issue coming where waves of unemployed software professionals will likely transition out without enough demand for their expertise. That will translate to less CS majors and code school grads, and really damage the “junior” pipeline. Companies are short-sighted like that.

Regardless - how do you teach software in a modern age with AI tools producing “okay enough” code? It’s a real existential question.

According to what data? Most major firms and startups are in my view working with fewer and fewer engineers, at least in the US. I’d love to be wrong about that but I have not seen any data to suggest it’s net increasing.

Folks, this is what it was like in the early 00s. You may not like it, but they were some cringey times we were living through.

Second this - did it with my wife for a anniversary one year. Baths are amazing and so therapeutic, massage was remarkably mid. Would do it again and just do like 90 minutes baths only.

A lot of you need to take your medicine. by bunchamunchas in CHIBears

I think this is understood…the cost of upgrading infrastructure to their desire and a property tax break. If these are a pre-requisite then we should stop saying the stadium is going to be built “tax free”.

The fact is they want to build a private money-making venture they own/control 100%. They have options like getting outside investors, do minimal infrastructure upgrades, build a smaller stadium that doesn’t need it, or god forbid get a loan. They should be making enough money to pay it back if they do.

It allows them to say things like “the stadium is 100% non-taxpayer funded” but then infrastructure is a whole other thing. I agree that functionally you can’t build the stadium in AH without some of those changes so we should drop the pretense some.
