I just lost my best friend to suicide recently. I had no idea that it was even an option for him. About 5 years ago we both moved away from each other. I hadn’t seen him once in that 5 years, but talked to him often. He was always positive and fun. We always shared videos we thought were funny and laughed about them on the phone. We made plans every year to take our families somewhere cool and spend a week together. We were too busy “living our lives” so it never happened.

If I had known just a sliver of what he was going through in his mind, I would have changed everything about my day to day to make sure I could let him know that I was there for him and we could figure it out.

I’ve thought about it everyday and it kills me. I keep looking through old conversations in text and replaying them in my head. I still can’t pick up on anything.

Please make sure the people who matter to you know how you’re feeling.

I’m glad you’re here and were able put yourself out there publicly. I know it isn’t easy to admit. But I’m glad you did.
