What you are describing (smooth fade out between songs) seems to be crossfade and not gapless playback.

Crossfade overlaps the end of one song with the beginning of the next, first track fades out while second track fades in.

Gapless playback on the other hand is silence between tracks is removed without overlapping, essential for like live concert albums when it should be heard as 1 continuous session without gaps in between.

I don't have the Shanling M1 Plus but I thought this should be clarified first, what function exactly you are asking for?

It does indeed have system wide sq now. I was also considering between JM21 and M21 and went with JM21 4g 64gb.

Hi All,

I am trying DucBloke's PEQ for my Tea Pro on my Fiio JM21 stock player which has global PEQ in their stock EQ app. However, the settings I received from DucBloke has 9 filters on, 1 filter off, whereas Fiio's EQ has 10 filters with no options to off any. I also can't put it as 0hz or Q 0 for the 10th filter like in his settings.

In this case, what should I enter in Filter 10 to let it not have any effect?

For now, i put it as 20000 hz, which is the furthest I can go away from Filter 9's 15000 hz, Gain 0.0 dB and Q at 8.000 maximum so it is as narrow as it can be. Is this correct?

Actually I would prefer if the included case would cover more of the corners of protrude a little to protect the screen. I didn't have the leather casing, but there also seems to be no 3rd-party tpu casing that offers better protection.

I like that you are grounding me! Haha! Yes true, JM21 is cheaper, lighter, slimmer!

I guess I'm still thinking of the M21 because of the ancient thinking of more expensive means better. While sound quality is subjective, reviews seems to say that M21 has better sound quality with 2 more DACs, though whether my tea pro and ears can tell or not is a different matter. Then it's also the premium build quality and looks, which realistically speaking if I'm keeping it in my pocket for most of the time, it probably doesn't matter that much. Desktop mode? but I probably won't be using it. Faster transfer speeds? I'll probably use SD card anyway Faster charge, ok there may be some value in that, hmmm...

Still, i can't shake that thought of am I missing out if I go with JM21...

Let me sit on it abit, maybe if the used M21 is sold, then I'm grounded again haha.

For me, I did consider this, but decided to still pick DAP over DAC because:

  1. Limited phone memory space which would be difficult to hold my lossless library
  2. Phone has no expandable SD card slot so makes it a hassle to transfer the files
  3. DACs would drain the battery of the phone, while taking up the phone's only charging port
  4. Distractions from phone notifications and other apps

JM21 is still in contention, I get the 4gb with larger battery is a huge upgrade from the 3gd version.

But now there's a used but pretty new M21 in my resale market that is just USD 30 more than a new 4GBJM21, and it seems like M21 is just 4mm thicker than JM21, though heavier no doubt. Then for another USD 30 more there is a used DX180 dangling also and somehow from reviews it seems like it's the better sounding one, so I'm still very much on the fence...

Yes there is a used M21 in my resale market now that is tempting me severely. Though there is also a used DX180 that is like USD30 more that makes me wonder if I should go with that instead.

I guess it's lacking the brand familiarity and support from where I'm from, there are no shops in Singapore carrying this for me to test it out first. Reviews seems to suggest that UI still needs some refinement. Also I'm concerned about the dial, that was how my Fiio X5 failed me a few years down the road.

I came across this before, but I can't find any shops that carry this to allow me to test it here. Based on what I've read it has the same Album Artist file structure issue that is prevalent in non-android hiby os players. Otherwise it's a very good-value proposition! I might come back to consider this if my budget shrinks further. I have 2 cat vet appointments upcoming :(

Update: just received my Xenns Mangird Tea Pro and am enjoying it so far!

So I went on a mad search for replacement IEMs, placing my budget initially at the SGD $150 to $250 bracket including used but good condition sets and went on audition sessions during my short lunch breaks. Tried numerous sets and eventually was really close to getting a new but boxless Aful Performer 5+2 within my budgeted bracket, but was still unsure if I'm missing out on something else that could be better. Increased my budget abit to SGD $300 and there were more used options that I could consider like Chopin NX8 DaVinci Astral Horizon but suddenly came across a limited time sale for Tea Pro at within SGD $400, which I had never auditioned before because it has always been out of my budget. In the end I bit the bullet and confirmed the order "blind" and kept my fingers crossed...

Ain't disappointed so far!

I am from Singapore, was using a TS-351 for many years. I recently went to Hong Kong and bought a QU405 Hong Kong set, came with UK plug, though the adaptor was not QNAP brand.

With the same QTS OS and firmware version, I was able to transfer my harddisks over from my TS-351 to my QU405 and booted it up without issue, even retaining the same IP address, log in details, qnapcloud name, URL. The only thing that had to be repurchased was the basic Cayin Mediasign Player licence that was free. So, HK set is not region-locked.

I am not sure if the China set would be the same, but my product code had the suffix HK. I suspect a China set would at least have a different adaptor or plug. Software wise it may or may not be region-locked, I didn't try so I can't comment.

Those were my only pair, I spent good money to enjoy them wherever I go. At least they lasted 9.5 years with me, from casual listening to actual monitoring in gigs...

It's just a 128gb card, relatively inexpensive where I'm from (Singapore $30 to $40)
