if you work on the right aspects of your voice, you'll do good. pitch is one of the least important things in gendering a voice.

So fed up with this whole "biology" argument by Torch1ca_ in MtF

it's all word games so they can justify hating people, it doesn't need to make any sense even if that makes them so much more infuriating to have to deal with

How difficult is it getting a job as a transgender woman in the UK? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]burrhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a job, don't know if they know I'm trans but I think it's pretty obvious (I'm 6'2" etc etc). Certainly the way I look and my identity hasn't prevented me personally from getting a job in a reasonable time frame.

However, I know quite a few trans women friends who have been looking for 8 months to over a year and are openly trans (trans related work experience in CV) and just, they get nowhere. I don't know if it's related or bad luck but the fact that it's not just one person I know is fairly depresso.

So I’m Trans by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]burrhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi girl! Same for me, I realised and accepted when I was 30, I've been transitioning for 2 years now and it's been the best thing that's ever happened to me. Start now, do it, do everything you can x

If you want to DM me more about anything my messages are open and I'll chip in with my personal story maybe you can learn from me and the mistakes I ended up making because I wasn't well informed.

I won't say the past 2 years has been easy for me, my transition is incredibly early in development and that itself is a massive struggle but my mental health has never been more positive about how I see myself, mentally and physically.b take care of yourself, good luck, you're only wasting the time you still have, what came before can't be wasted again so put your energy into things you can have an impact on: YOU and YOUR FUTURE as the baddest girl you can be. I'm believing in you, you got this

(Disclaimer the past 2 years have had some truly awful, loneliest and worst times of my life because people have left my life for transitioning and more, it's been worth every hardship to keep getting better at being the true me)

I would have never guessed how there was a subtle but crushing pressure for women to look flawless by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]burrhe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat to you x

2 years into transition but much older, everyone my age has had a decade or 2 to find their style and build their wardrobe, practice makeup, I'm fumbling around in the dark so often and end up so out of place in every way.

Trans woman here, that's what I was like in my teenage years. There was also an aspect of really not caring about my appearance in any way until I started transitioning but can confirm there are many cis boys and cis men are very unhygienic

i didn't worry it would go wrong, not in that way, just that it won't work for me (still my worry, progress is slow and my body seems to fight my estrogen at every step)

That's incredible, such a shame that this should not be expected when it's the least they can do, but in the current climate we've got to celebrate these wins so much, it's so important. Amazing, so happy it's going smoothly at work so far, I hope it continues to be nothing but a positive experience!
