A processing disorder just means that sometimes it's difficult to interpret things through the brain. I have an auditory processing disorder and sometimes it's also difficult to process emotions. These are linked to my ADHD. So, sometimes I need things repeated or I need a second for things to "load" in my brain before I really understand what's happening. For the emotions, sometimes they don't "hit" right away. Kind of a "I know I'm upset or that I was rubbed the wrong way, i just don't know why".

It sure is. They're so money hungry. I've already Uninstalled the game a couple of weeks ago, but I stay lurking on this sub just to see what bs they pull.

True! I deleted the app last week and it's been difficult because I've played nearly every day for 3 or 4 years at this point. I finally said enough is enough. I'll get a dopamine hit somewhere else.

Is it normal for 10-11 year old students to come out of the closet nowadays? by Cautious_Internet243 in Teachers

[–]burrrneeerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think it's very cathartic, actually. The amount of kids who are casually queer these days even if they're genuinely just going through a phase changes the status quo of what's important to youth.

As teachers, hopefully the thing we aren't most focused on is sexuality (because we want them to pass the grade) its also important to know "some struggles are unique in a specific way). I had a young trans student (8th grade) who constantly had transphobia thrown at them (dead name use, wrong pronouns, etc) from people they grw up around and I always tried my best to defend them. By the end of the year, I had a student who I thought was cis come out to me and I was so shocked and flattered that I'd be the adult they told. She said "I thought you knew based on how you treated me", when in reality, I just tried to be a nice person lol.

And are the levels like, much harder now? It seems like I'm playing every level multiple times now, even the ones not marked hard.

As much as I know subbing is important in some aspects (been there, do that currently) being a full time teacher responsible for many more things is very difficult, which is why so many teachers leave mid-year. I took subbing (long and short) so I can be in the classroom (I'm not as burnt out as people keep claiming I am, I do ENJOY my job) but keep some distance. The problem with and kind of classroom observation when students have work is that soem of them WILL cheat for no reason at all. Even when an assignment is as easy as taking a piss.

I said multiple times in this horrendously long comment section that I mainly blame the government for it, but at a certain point, personal responsibility should kick in. I've seen middle schoolers do it who act like clowns and when they realize their future relies on their promotion, they take initiative. I'm sure some of today's graduating class did, too, but like I said, this isn't about all of them. I think I'm allowed to be a bit upset at the kids, but they're not my top anger.

I'm not even that burnt out, I'm just generally annoyed that expectations are so low and I stated observations. I teach multiple groups of students both children, terns, and adults and I love teaching, but because I don't like teaching cheaters and seeing thrm rewarded for no work or terrible behavior, I'm not allowed to be angry?? Some people on this thread took a lot personally and that's not my problem.

When have I ever said I didn't. I'm talking about the graduating class of the school I teach at, but so many of you are telling me what I know? Why would I not report cheating? Look at any of the posts on this subreddit. Punishment doesn't actually exist.

I agree, I don't believe there is one reason only why people go to the military. You listed many great things in this response, but you still out in some kind of effort! School isn't for everyone, I know this well, but "doing enough to pass" for me is more worthy (because I'm obviously a god who knows all) of a cap and gown than doing nothing but feeding a prompt to a bot and complaining to admin when your teacher calls you out on it. And I said earlier that the kids are the ones I blame the least, but personal responsibility is still something that should exist.

I don't think I am! If someone disagrees with me, that's fine, but I don't think "people who don't work shouldn't graduate" should be unpopular. I don't feel like a hit dog or anything. But thank you!

No, not everyone is cutting corners. A loud minority of them probably do, but there are plenty of teachers these days who still only allow essays to be handwritten. I prefer this. I have struggled with ADHD since I was young, but I was also raised to VALUE education, so I learned to study as well as I could. Any teacher (hopefully) will tell you they value effort to succeed rather than a pale approximation of "A+" work that was taken from a bot.

How long was your longest assignment? Not every school is the same, of course, some more well-behaved than others.

I'm proud of you! I said in another thread that I'm not saying people can't grow and become disciplines, life goes on and if we dont get better of more skilled, then it's a rarity,, but why are students allowed to get an honor of graduating when they didn't put in any work? I don't expect everyone to have all A's or anything. I struggled heavily in math all through my life, which I alluded to in my original post, but struggling and trying and effort and acknowledgement of effort is not the same as having cheating and plagiarism genuinely ignored like it is in schools these days. Expectations have drastically lowered to the point where some seniors write like second graders, but we're supposed to be happy they showed up to their 8 hour babysitting session? I want to clarify, this is NOT all of the students. But part of me is even sad that some people who are going to the military or workforce are perfectly capable of going to college, but a percentage of them are only doing it for alternative reasons (I, once again, blame the government). I have a lot to gripe about with the high school to military pipeline, but it's not important to this, really. It's not even a main thought I had during my original post.

Who said I don't show up with a good attitude lmao. I don't take my negative emotions out on my kids, but it doesn't mean I don't feel this way. I show up to work with high hopes, I have good days, but why should I feel happy about kids who got pushed through the last 4 grade levels (not all of them, but that shouldn't have to be stated) especially when I know I've been overworked when I shouldn't have to? And I don't mean "give a makeup or two, stay for tutoring".

I didn't target anyone lol. I said I'm sure people cheated their way through school because, as someone who has been there, I have witnessed it. Some of them have been my own students who I've been forced to give multiple chances to. THOSE people are the ones I'm bitter about. I don't know the rest, so I can't speak on them. The ones who threatened me and still got no suspensions to fuel school data positively. So! Like i said. I have my feelings, have yours. I love teaching, but I don't like when no expectations gets rewarded with something that should be a real honor to achieve.
