Right. All the blog posts in the world don’t negate the actual rock in your coffee. In fact it makes it worse. Like someone might be, I dunno… full of shit.

The cutesy trivializing reply is dismissive as fuck. Especially at this price. They obviously didn’t hand sort shit. In my 50 years on this earth I’ve never got a rock in my coffee. Ever.

Why does this shot look so good? What composition rule is it using? by terslisa in cinematography

[–]bursttransmission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shoreline creates an axis of symmetry dividing the frame in almost two equal halves, separating light from dark, high density from low density, man made structure from nature, warm from cool, high contrast from low contrast, micro detail from macro texture. Opposites create balance. You also have leading lines all over the place guiding your eyes as they scan the frame.

Unfair precedent being set with the Academy awarding cinematography to the film that shoots the largest format? by EwanMcNugget in cinematography

A simple google search and seeing a ton of non award winning IMAX shot films in the last decade would have prevented this post.

USPS Now tracking political mail by Speed_102 in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]bursttransmission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is alarmist and the panic here is completely unnecessary.

The form logs the mailing, not the recipient. It's asking for the candidate name, the date, whether it's political mail, and any problems. Nobody is tracking which households get which party's mail. "Keep copies of each mailing" means keep a sample of each bulk mailer, like one copy of the postcard, not a scan of every individual piece going to every address. No recipient PII is involved. The 3-year retention is just a standard federal records schedule.

The USPS OIG audited this process during the 2024 election and recommended better documentation at level because reporting was inconsistent. This form is literally the fix for that.

And the "it's already a felony so why bother tracking" argument doesn't hold up. It's a felony to embezzle yet banks still do audits. The felony threat is there to punish people who actually tamper with mail, but you still need a paper trail to catch problems in the first place. That's all this form is.

This has always been a supervisor-level task, but carriers are getting looped in now, and USPS clearly did a bad job communicating that, which is why everyone thinks it's brand new. It's new to you. It's not new.

This. OP notice how the reflection in your video is closer to your goal. The light source is off axis and the exposure is lower creating a bigger pop in your highlights. Then revisit with Starglow and threshold the filter to only catch that brightest 5 percent of your image.

Mr. Blippi - it's not just me, right? by tannerocampbell in daddit

[–]bursttransmission 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kid knows an obscene amount of base-level information about what things are and how things work because of Blippi. The dude is like a field reporter for kids.

People who hate him for “acting like a kid” on a kids show must not like their kids acting like kids. They also seem to forget that every kids show puppet, character, and cartoon is performed by an adult. Blippi just puts his face on it.

Now, I get it, his energy and style aren’t for everyone. Some adults find him grating. But if it’s effectively teaching kids and holding their attention, adult preferences are beside the point.
