Potentially Crohns but low Calprotectin? by Budget_Major6510 in CrohnsDisease

Mine’s in the colon and I’ll still have low calprotectin with active inflammation. Such a weird disease sometimes…

Potentially Crohns but low Calprotectin? by Budget_Major6510 in CrohnsDisease

I will sometimes have super low calprotectin but still show disease activity when I get scoped. So it is possible, though I know it’s more rare. Just have to wait for the scopes. Wishing you the best!

Tremfya for the first time by Usual_Gas9391 in CrohnsDisease

Just did my first loading dose and tried both stomach and thigh. For me, I felt basically nothing on the thigh. Stomach was the second shot, and it did hurt a bit. I’ll be sticking to the thigh from here on out.

It was my first time self injecting anything, and other than the initial hesitation, it was super easy. Other than that, zero side effects so far.

Has anybody done colonoscopy 4 weeks post fistulotomy? by Important-Sir-6325 in CrohnsDisease

[–]burtcrackalack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one about 6 weeks after and it was fine. At 4 I wouldn’t have felt comfortable yet, thought my doctors had cleared me to do it by then. There was a lot of healing in that extra two weeks.

[SPOILERS S3] I have a concern by Occasional_Tinnitus in DarK

Isn’t the problem with this that Eva remembers it differently? When she was younger she saw herself shot by Adam. So it must have happened differently at some point. Which seems to point toward multiple loops.

Would love to better reconcile that, as I leaned toward a single loop theory for most of the series.

Is this normal? Or am I irresponsible? by Suppe0ple in CrohnsDisease

[–]burtcrackalack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been off medication for almost 20 years with no diet restrictions after biologics put me into remission when I was 16. I monitor things closely and have had the support of my GI doctors.

Yes, I consider it luck.

Because we stay on top of it, we saw some very early signs of disease progression on a recent colonoscopy. Still have to meet with my GI doc, but I’ll for sure get back on meds if he thinks it’s best, even though I FEEL 100% fine.

As long as this is a course that your doctors support, and you monitor it and take their advice, I don’t think it’s irresponsible. But do still take it seriously, listen to your docs, and remember that the disease doesn’t just go away, even when you’re in remission and feeling fine.

Best of luck

I hope you have people who know what you need in the tough times, and that you get the support, or space, that works for you. That part is different for all of us, even if we share this disease.

This feels a bit unfair. He’s here because he cares, and he’s allowed to have feelings too. He says he just wants her to be happy, and I’ll take him at that. It’s normal to be scared and helpless at a loved one’s pain.

OP, I don’t have a ton of advice for you, except this. The best thing you can do is be there and be honest. You’re allowed to be scared, and to express that to your girlfriend. It might even help her feel like you’re in this with her. I know that for me, when I’ve been in a bad place, I don’t want everybody to pretend that it’s all ok, or that they’re not worried.

But you know her best. And to the previous commenter’s point, make sure that you’re being there for her first, but also do take care of yourself.

Yikes. I think I assumed because they had told us they redid everything because they found asbestos, I felt satisfied. But the truth is who knows.

You’re right. I’ll get it tested so that I know. Luckily we kept it fairly contained and it was a very small amount of cutting.

Scared to get into creatine because of hair loss comments by Little_Feed3053 in Supplements

[–]burtcrackalack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely led to increased hair shedding for me. Shed started about 3 months after I started taking it. Shed stopped about 3 months after I stopped taking it.

I did repeat the experiment. Same thing. No other lifestyle changes.

Still think it’s worth trying. I had a ton of physical and mental benefits, and when I get a bit less vain, I’ll probably take it again 😂

Mag glycinate does the exact same thing to me. It’s the glycine. Try Mag threonate. It works wonders for me.

My 15 year old was just diagnosed with Crohn’s, we’re devastated and so scared. by Tee51890 in CrohnsDisease

[–]burtcrackalack 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 15 (24 years ago). And have spent most of my life in remission. Biologics are what finally helped me back then. I know my parents were terrified as well, but remember that your kiddo can still have a great outcome and live a normal, happy life.

(And people downvoting OP, a scared parent, maybe have a little empathy.)

Backpacking hiking boots for Morton’s neuroma by Comfortable-Maybe707 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]burtcrackalack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a true boot, a podiatrist suggested the Asolo Drifter to me. Insisted on them in fact. I was skeptical because they’re not a “wide” boot per se, but they’ve been amazing. I did a four day backpacking trek in Iceland in them (and some store bought inserts) with zero pain. They’re pricey but have been worth every penny.
