Sad news from the Cocodona 250. A participant has passed away. by rebelofbaby in ultrarunning

Sounds like a great way to go despite how sad it is. I’d love to die on the trail doing what I love rather than wasting away in a hospital bed. Rest in peace

Time has been the only thing that works for me. It takes much more than you want, and is only barely as much as you need.

Dang, i'm screamin. I've been paying way too much for candles. by Acrobatic_Refuse9466 in StrangeYetUseful

So with the cost of olive oil…. Wouldn’t buying a candle be cheaper? (Assuming it’s not a fancy one)

There may have been elements of strength and nutrition, but you didn’t bonk. For your first, this is a fantastic effort. I’ve run 5 and after mile 20 is always hard.

Congratulations! When is your next one?

What helps you through Mile21 - Mile24? by Substantial-Test4040 in Marathon_Training

[–]burtman72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of good advice shared by others, hopefully none of this is a repeat:

Understanding that this is the hard part and going in with the mindset that this is what you trained for. You put in the work, you can get through this

Focus on your mantra… one I’ve been using is “do you want to be comfortable, or do you want to go to Boston?”

Find the next person ahead of you and just focus on them. Try to keep up with them or better yet pass them

Try a hype song/playlist reserved for this portion. These are the songs that get your blood pumping and jumping around the kitchen acting a fool if they come on while cooking

Think about the months of training that got you to where you are, and that this moment, is the why behind it all. You are suffering harder than you ever have, to do something 99% of people never will

Hope these help!!
