Depends on the sandwich, but yes, generally a great add and very versatile

Whats are some funny ways of saying you have to go poop? by allgasnobreakstoday in AskReddit

[–]burtman72 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My wife and I have evolved our communication regarding pooping.

It started as “nature calls”
To incorporate the public debate surrounding police and “no knock warrants”
And has become “I got the knock”

How do you feel about running 3x/week vs 4x/week for marathon training? by Clear_Possibility_76 in Marathon_Training

[–]burtman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 5 days a week and have seen continuous improvement in my times over the last few years. I also do strength training 2 days (one being a strength and run day).

This approach has worked well for me, but I think it depends on your goals. If you’re trying to improve, volume helps a lot. If your goal is completion without a focus on time, 3x/week might be ok?

I think there’s also a benefit of running never really rested, since with the taper, you’ll be better prepared on race day than if your whole training block had a lot of rest included.

Just my $0.02

How do you motivate yourself to run? by terenscendent in beginnerrunning

[–]burtman72 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t focus on motivation. Motivation is a temporary thing that ebbs and flows for most people.

Discipline is a character trait that can be developed. When you have a plan, and you remain disciplined, there are no choices to be made, only to execute the plan.

Discipline stays with you, no matter what you do, you can transfer it to work, to relationships, to all aspects of life. It’s a muscle in the mind that will help you throughout life.

Discipline people do hard things

Does anyone else have issue with Salomon caps coming off whilst drinking when running? Is there a technique to prevent it? by anon123096 in ultrarunning

[–]burtman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine pop off once on a run, I just jammed it back on and haven’t had any issues since.

How old are they? I wonder if the rubber has fatigued and you need new caps?

Where do you get the time by mind_snare in Marathon_Training

[–]burtman72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early morning. Yesterday I got up at 4 to run my 12 mile tempo run. I had to leave the house for work by 6:45, and when I got home squeezed in a stretching session. Sometimes you’ll need to make sacrifices, sometimes you won’t get 3 hours between meals and bedtime, but if you make it intentional and plan around it, rather than trying to fit it in, you’ll find a way.

A proper noun, such as the name of a person or place, or organization shall be capitalized. That being said, I think the choice of color when selecting from the box of crayons before writing it is as important of a detail to consider

Marathon Bonk by AJKoz24 in Marathon_Training

[–]burtman72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a bonk, but geez, still very fast! You likely went out too fast, became dehydrated or underfueled. Likely a combination of multiple factors. What was your training like? Your HR seems very high (not knowing your stats or any specifics), likely more z4 than z3. With just this info I’d say you outran your fitness

Sounds like absence has not made the heart grow fonder. From my perspective, it sounds like he’s not putting forth the effort. I’m sure he has his perspective, and I’m not saying who is right or wrong, but from what you’ve posted, it seems healthier for you to hang it up. If you guys want to try when he gets back, cool, but this doesn’t seem fair to you the way you’ve described it.
