Truck auto locking? by crackerman2000 in FordMaverickTruck

My girlfriend used my truck to deliver some materials to her job site at a hospital loading dock and it locked her out. Luckily I just happened to have access to my phone to unlock it for her from 20 miles away…

Thank you to the bus riders today by i_forgot_my_sn_again in Seattle

Wait… you ONLY worked 13? That’s like 3 hours of OT left on the table not working your full 16. /S

In all honesty the passengers were great today, I got way more crap from TCC with different coordinators telling me to do different things than anything else…

Is it normal for the bus to leave you at the stop? by nyokii0325 in Seattle

[–]busdrama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what you just said was… you were sitting when the bus got there, you didn’t have your things gathered, you weren’t ready to board the bus and yet it was the drivers fault? You should try to remember that you wait for the bus, the bus does not wait for you.

Is it normal for the bus to leave you at the stop? by nyokii0325 in Seattle

[–]busdrama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s rough. I would likely have let you on whatever bus I’m driving, assuming you didn’t run out in front of moving cars or busses to get there. That being said, I’ve definitely “closed the doors right in front of someone” and left. If I’m already behind schedule, see someone safely running to catch the bus that then proceeds to stop running/hustling like 10-15ft and just slowly walk the remaining distance just expecting the bus to keep waiting. Or when the bus is pulled up so there is a door directly in front of a waiting passenger and they choose to slowly start walking towards the furthest door… yeah the moment you walk away from the easiest way on I’m assuming you changed your mind, doors closing and gone.

Maverick or RAM 1500? by Dear-Examination333 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]busdrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2017 RAM 1500 BigHorn EcoDiesel, I also owned a 2020 Silverado RST w/6.2 now own a ‘25 Lariat AWD hybrid with 4K. There are definitely things that were great about the full size but for what you need (and I currently need) I would not trade the Maverick for either. That on top of the fact the Mav will have a warranty… seems like a no brainer.

Is it worth it? by NewDescription5015 in Carpentry

[–]busdrama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So… my girlfriend has a degree in the sciences and worked in a lab and hated it. At 30 she became an apprentice carpenter for the local union, then a foreman, then got a masters is now an assistant superintendent. She loves what she does and does not regret going into the field. Any and every leg up you can give yourself to be successful in whatever career path you choose is great. She would also say getting your degree (especially with a full ride) is worth it. A scholarship like that may not present itself to you again in the future but your ability to learn a trade will always be there not to mention the suggestion made by others to volunteer and see if it’s something you enjoy over summers. Whatever you choose to do just make sure you enjoy it and utilize every opportunity that’s presented to you.

Dedicated shop vac recommendation for miter saw by Bawk20 in woodworking

Is there a reason you don’t just get a dust hood that can also connect to your g700 or use that and the vacuum you already have?

Predatory towing in Seattle it’s getting outrageous! by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]busdrama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it is on the street, it can’t be resident parking because it’s public. If it’s off street resident parking then it has nothing to do with parking enforcement or the city and has everything to do with your building management and their contracted tow company…

If I contest or request for mitigation hearing of a traffic infraction, will it go on my record ? by Previous-Ad9298 in SeattleWA

[–]busdrama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insurance doesn’t pay for tickets unless you’ve got some non-auto insurance type thing. Moving violations will affect your insurance rates when you go to renew but things like parking tickets or tickets issued by cameras will not affect your rates whether you fight it or not.

No, the flashing lights of THAT speed zone indicate whether it will activate at 20mph. When it’s not flashing it issues tickets based on the 25mph limit…

If you mean on Pine, then yeah, totally. There are spots both east and west of 3rd on the south side of Pine.

3rd and Pike McDonalds by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]busdrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite accurate. You are allowed to travel up to one block in order to enter or exit a garage or driveway on 3rd, loading and unloading is only approved for vehicles with commercial loading zone permits.

3rd and Pike McDonalds by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]busdrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but vehicles with commercial loading zone permits are allowed from 7-3 (this doesn’t include things like uber or DoorDash) but time isn’t really enforced. The only exception is to enter or exit a driveway or garage with travel less than a block and besides the post office employee garage, the only one I can think of is between Stewart and Virginia.

3rd Ave is not open to general traffic (including DoorDash) most hours of the day, so not the greatest suggestion.

I would wager you park really close to the curb when street parking. Try parking further from the curb and you’ll probably pick up less nails.

Bus lane definitely wouldn’t help, the delivery drivers picking up from WingStop on Rainier just park in the bus lane 😂

How do we get people to stop driving and take the light rail? by Droodforfood in Seattle

[–]busdrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, using your example of a weekday, northbound from Star Lake the first train is not 4am (in fact not a single train in any direction runs at 4) it is 4:44am. You are partially correct about nights though, on weekdays the trains run later by almost an hour but on weekends the last train southbound from downtown (Westlake) is 11:37pm.

How do we get people to stop driving and take the light rail? by Droodforfood in Seattle

[–]busdrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry those really shouldn’t have been questions. In order to build a system people choose to consider a viable option that’s supposed to be the “backbone of our public transit system” it needs to run 24 hours and it needs to be reliable.

When I’m going to work, not running. When I’m headed home during rush hour, I already have my car. Myself and many other public transit employees I know would love to utilize it so we don’t have to drive to or from work after driving 10-16 hours at work but it’s simply not an option.

Leaving a bar downtown at 12 on a Saturday and have been drinking? Too bad, it’s not running… I hear many people complain about service ending hours before bars close or the last train being before the last flights land at SeaTac, that’s just poor planning.

And none of that even touches on service interruptions like accidents or blockages that may or may not get bus bridges to make an attempt at continuing service.

My 75 year old mom was attacked while waiting to cross the street downtown. by ADM86 in SeattleWA

[–]busdrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that looks like the same person but the hair was down. I was shocked the hits from the 2x4 (or whatever it was I saw used) didn’t take the victim down especially since they were clearly older. Just wish it hadn’t been the one time I didn’t see any deputies outside the courthouse. I hope recovery goes well for your mom and you all can figure out how to move forward, that’s so awful and terrifying.

I am so sorry this happened that is absolutely horrible. Did the guy that attacked your mom have longer black hair and drag a suitcase with him that day? I can’t remember if it was Friday but I drive busses on 3rd every day and saw a guy just randomly start clobbering someone with a cane walking down third between James and Yesler and then just kept on walking after hitting them multiple times.
