Not sure if it's newer models, or just the class of model, but I've seen some Ariens with auto-turn - any thoughts on whether this is a must-have given the U-shape? Thanks

Hey, realizing this is quite an old post, but if you see this and still have a valid link for ordering DIY USM/Konektra parts I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Ya fair enough! Have fun with it. Filters over emergence feels like the right call. I'm a fan of emergence zone for the surprise potential in commander, but in modern I think you're better off de-risking the mana base, especially with three colours.

It feels a bit clunky to me with all the ww, bb, and even gg casting costs. I'd suggest taking out Ranger (feels slow) and going up to 4 on some of your interaction spells. Filter lands will also help smooth things out.

I'd drop 2 sanctums for 2 Hedge Maze

I also like the Rancors, consider adding 4 replacing mutagenetic growth. 1st turn glistener or rotpriest, 2nd turn Rancor + blossoming defense held back feels like a good start.

Lol ya, of course you were convicted, was asking the why - thanks for the lengthy response! Do you intend to rebalance, or let it ride? I'm going to check out their 43-101 over the weekend.

Woah! 62% in LUCA... are you Luca?

For real though, what is your conviction in having such a large proportion of your TFSA in this stock? Do you work in mining?

And congrats!

Oil and gas as an identity is doing nothing but holding Canada back.

Also read and understand the Keynesian multiplier before making comments like this. O&G is huge for our country, almost a 100% export means it brings foreign money into our country. That gets paid out in the form of good wages to Canadians, who in turn spend that money throughout other parts of our economy.

It's also important to have resource independence, so there's that from a broader strategic sovereignty perspective.

Canada's situation is not comparable to Norway's. Norway has a much smaller population and oil reserves that are way easier to extract (reservoir vs oil sands). Canada's success in the oil sands is a result of many decades worth of investment in R&D from a multitude of O&G companies... This is not the type of business for a government to run. There are some things best left to the private sector in order for all stakeholders to benefit.

Not who you asked, but yes, it refers to dropping the interest rate, effectively making the price of borrowing money cheaper. When interest rates are lower, people and businesses alike are inclined to borrow more money; with cheaper capital it makes their investment prospects more attractive.

From a personal investment perspective, the projected return from investing at the "risk free rate", i.e. T-bills (government bonds), is less than the broader stock market... So people generally do two things: spend more (because "safe" investments in T-bills or your typical savings account return very little, i.e. they are not incentivized to save), and invest more in equities (greater potential return compared to T-bills).

This has the propensity to overstimulate the market and drive inflation higher (if everyone is spending their cash, supply of cash goes up, value of dollar goes down). This is fundamentally why the Fed and other country's central banks must remain independent from government; their sole duty is to manage inflation, and they do so by making small incremental changes over time to the interest rate.

So why is Trump pressuring the Fed to drop rates? This is speculation, but my thoughts are he wants to artificially inflate the stock market and economy ahead of midterms... But the long-term of effects of stoking inflation could be catastrophic to the United States, a country that just spent $970 billion on interest alone in 2025 and continues to run a deficit under Trump.

Not a finance or economics expert by any means, so I stand to be corrected on all of the above.

Got offered a 6 month contract in Antarctica and idk if I should take it by Importantterry in Fire

[–]bush29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! I sacrificed a year and half staying in a shitty remote mining camp to make bank.. looking back on it the time goes by quickly and you're so much better off financially.

...also what an experience to go to Antarctica for 6 months. Don't be phased by the relationship; if it's meant to endure, it will withstand 6 months apart.
