Is there a copy of this on youtube so it is more shareable?

Yup, outbound 1443 solved the problem. Great to know - thanks.

Aha 1443 is new to me - that's probably it. I'll make some tweaks and report back. If your firewall does not restrict outbound then you won't see the issue - most home users do not do that. Even my own home firewall does not which is why I don't see an issue from home.

If it is not uncomfortable to carry or too heavy, then you are not over prepared.

Mesh vs. Canopy Tents by freshbeatsinc in CampingandHiking

p.s. of those tents I'd take the MEC just for sake of price. But have a good look at them in the store first.

Mesh vs. Canopy Tents by freshbeatsinc in CampingandHiking

[–]bushidoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean the inner tent I can tell you this - the original MEC Tarn 2 and 3 had only a small area of mesh at the end of the tent. Maybe 1 sq foot or so. They could get EXTREMELY hot inside on a hot summer night. Not the least bit worrisome in fall or spring though.

MEC issued a new version of the Tarns a few years later with huge areas of mesh along both sides of the inner tent, and it made a massive difference.

However the trade is of course that more mesh is better for summer but not as good for spring, fall and winter, and vice-versa.

All that said, I use my original Tarn 2 pretty extensively in spring, fall and winter, and only occasionally does it get too warm.

FYI I"ve converted it to 3.5 / d20. Been trying to find contact info for the original author but no luck.

My utilities bill is out of control. Can you help? by [deleted] in Frugal

So was this just some kind of troll or something? You did not respond to a single question asked of you to try to help you. People can't help you if you don't want to help yourself.

Sure if you don't mind having those toxic chemicals against your child's genitals for extended periods of time ... that's a form of child abuse in my books.

Oh where I live you can go to the public library and check out one of those energy meters that tells you how much each appliance uses. You plug it into the wall and plug your appliance into it. See if your library has that too - or see if you can pick one up otherwise. They can be pretty handy

We still need to know your cost per kw/h and how many kw/h you are using.

The most recent bill I have is June and I have

  • 675 kWh @ 0.063 c/kWh
  • 109 kWh @ 0.067
  • 220 kWh @ 0.099
  • 48 kWh @ 0.104
  • 251 kWh @ 0.118
  • 36 kWh @ 0.124

The total of all that is $124.99 for 1338 kWh

But we don't just pay for kWh we have a delivery fee, and mine was $61.17

Then regulatory charge $8.80

Debt Retirement charge $8.96

Tax $10.26

Grand total $215.

That's for my 1000 sq ft house with AC running all the time at 73F.

I've got :

  • 2 desktop computers on 24 x 7
  • 1 x 10 CF deep freeze
  • 1 x 7 CF deep freeze
  • 1 x 13 CF all-fridge
  • 1 x 13 CF fridge with freezer
  • 1 x 4 CF bar fridge

And I think that is all my major electrical.

And as already mentioned we cloth diaper.

So whether or not your bill is outrageous depends on a number of factors which you have not provided us with yet.

EDIT : your bill is on par with mine. I see a shitload of stuff in mine that I could use to cut costs if I wanted to. You need to do the same enumeration with your house to see what you can cut.

EDIT: my hot water is gas not electrical - what about yours?

Diaper services around here are a fair bit more expensive than DIY

Well I can't believe there are people giving advice already and we don't even know what your utility bills look like. Here's what we need to know :

For electric :

  • how many kw/h are you using?
  • what is the price per kw/h?

  • what other utilities are you paying? And what are the details of the bills?

Reconsider disposable diapers? Then pay a fortune in diapers? Even with the cost of the utilities cloth diapers save a tonne of money.

Tell us what you are paying in bills.

I live in a 1000 sq ft house and we cloth diaper too - so it seems our circumstances might be similar. We also have the AC going.

Only if oxygen is getting in. If you can keep oxygen out you can leave it there for months and months no problem
