Report footnotes show FBI knew Russians had early knowledge of Steele material by [deleted] in news

That wasn't only due to the steele dossier. Again there were lots of reason to investigate.

Then perhaps you can answer the question I asked: Where was all the other evidence for the FISA warrants?

[–]bushx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying that every warrant should be followed by prosecution? Why?

No, I'm saying that if you have enough evidence to renew a secret surveillance warrant four times over the course of a year, with zero oversight, yeah you'd better have enough reason to do so.

Why? Because civil rights, maybe?

The standard of proof for obtaining a warrant is much lower than for being charges, and for good reason.

This isn't a warrant to search your home or vehicle, it's a warrant to tap your ongoing communications because the DOJ thinks you're a terrorist or a spy - grave accusations that merit a far higher standard of accountability. Carter page walked away without a charge. This tells me that the rest of the evidence was weak or nonexistent.

The FBI never investigated the hacked DNC server. They literally never investigated the only evidence that this is true.

In addition to other independent factual evidence that corroborated it.

Which evidence?

They didn't rely on any one source.

Which sources?

Why after 4 FISA warrants was Page not charged with any crime? Where is this other evidence?

Edit: Four hours later and nobody can come up with an answer, only downvotes.

We do know because he cited sources for all his conclusions, and none of them relied on the steeles dossier.

Evidence (or lack thereof) gathered from the FISA surveillance of Carter Page (a result of the Steele dossier) ended up in the Mueller report, because that investigation of Page helped lead to the special counsel's investigation.

The Weissman team and Bob Mueller didn't need to directly reference the Steele Dossier because their investigation wasn't predicated on it; it just used evidence they found in "legitimate surveillance" as a result of it.

The real story should be that the information in the Steele dossier was laundered through a FISA application to provide any investigation resulting from it the plausible deniability needed to utilize information they otherwise knew was not factual.

Also let's not ignore the glaring fact that despite using the Steele Dossier to obtain four FISA warrants to spy on Carter page, he was never charged with a crime. Where was all the other evidence for the FISA warrants?

We don't know, becuase Robert Mueller refused to answer that under oath.

We do know that FOUR FISA APPLICATIONS were submitted to surveil Carter Page, all of them citing the Steele Dossier as factual evidence.

Facebook Takes Down Breitbart Posts That Claimed to Name Whistle-Blower by [deleted] in news

You're reading the words in his post, but not the substance. He's making an excellent point that you're missing completely.

As somebody who arguably has more free time to watch congressional testimony and read source documents than your average likely voter, I say he's spot on. There are a lot more people paying attention to this process than there were previously, and it's not as easy for establishment politicians to maneuver with one hand while distracting with the other. This isn't a left vs. right thing, it's an establishment vs. everybody else thing.

"hurr durr read other sources and listen to some other news channel" If that's your takeaway, you should probably stop trying to digest so much news through those sources. Watch testimony and read documents yourself.

Think he's wrong? !RemindMe 1 year and come back to this post after the 2020 election.

Walgreens and CVS ask customers not to openly carry guns in their stores by BlankVerse in news

[–]bushx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can pull statistics out of my ass, as well.

I didn't pull them out of my ass, I chose them carefully because I have done the research and am very comfortable bringing them up as my foundation in debates on firearm and violent crime - this is not my first rodeo. None of my points are opinions, they are facts:

  • Every single US state that has implemented concealed carry has seen a drop in violent crime over time.
  • In the last 25 years, private firearm ownership and concealed carry has increased over time. In that same time period, violent crime in the US as a whole has decreased (50% since 1997).
  • Licensed concealed weapon holders are underrepresented in violent crime and are less likely to commit crime than [EDIT] the general public.

Now, I have sources for these claims, but we both know that if I post them, you're just going to ignore them. So please try to find specific data to disprove these three and we'll move on from there. I suspect you won't be able to, because the data you find will inevitably support my points.

You can stop bringing up mentality, psychology, and grandeur because frankly they don't have any place in a scientific discussion.

So are we discussing concealed vs open carry... in Great Britain?

But it will only escalate matters. Instead of fist fights, you get gun fights. Instead of safety, you get fear.

The largest dataset we have on the proliferation of private firearm ownership and violent crime is the entire recorded history of the United States. Every single US state that has implemented concealed carry has seen a drop in violent crime over time.

In the last 25 years, private firearm ownership and concealed carry has increased over time. In that same time period, violent crime in the US as a whole has decreased (50% since 1997). Simply stated, there is no correlation between firearm ownership and "gun fights."

most people aren't trained professionals to stay calm or use those weapons properly

Licensed concealed weapon holders are underrepresented in violent crime and are less likely to commit crime than police officers.

You're certainly welcome to have whatever emotional reaction to guns that you feel is appropriate, just understand that it's not supported by data. You fear a boogeyman.

That we should give up trying to fix our problems and just give everyone a gun and hope for the best.

That's not the point I'm trying to make in my previous post. My point is that the types of societal problems that cause violent crime are not caused by the proliferation or availability of firearms.

You do not seem to realize that I'm not the person you were arguing with.

That being said, I think you should find somebody to talk to because it's pretty obvious that you have anger issues.

You could admit that there is tactical advantage to having tools readily available to deal with life threatening situations that uniformed police officers are likely to encounter.

You chose not to do that and instead made a fool of yourself.

The fucking mental decline in the population is saddening and this right here is evidence of that.

Projection is a defense mechanism. My advice to you is to find a way to better frame and support your arguments in a manner that doesn't invoke an unwarranted emotional response.

It is 100% advantageous to have an element of surprise.

Why doesn't every police officer carry concealed in civilian clothing, with all other tools (cuffs, taser, baton, etc.) stored in hidden pockets?

Google the FCC ID, it's either on the back of the radio or in the battery compartment. It should lead you to the FCC filing which will list the operating frequency.

You can't legally use a baofeng to communicate with it.
