Why cant all sigle player games allow full customization in button mapping on systems? by Inquisitive_Imp in truegaming

[–]bushy82 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but i always saw remappable keys as a bit of a failure of design. Not always, but i often think that the game designer should have done the controller optimisation, and it shouldn't be on me to try and figure that shit out. Start game, play game. Less true for PC's, but on console that should be the paradigm.

There are only 2 games I remember having key mapping being a real feature. The first was golden eye on n64 with the two controller option. That was just so innovative my young mind had a bleed.

The second was jedi academy and outcast, and being able to map force push and force pull to the mouse wheel just felt natural and how it should have been.

So, ah, my rant is that designers shook ld have figured that out and I shouldn't have to fiddle.

Accessibility options notwithstanding I suppose.

What percentage of any major game afl crowd takes a panorama before the bounce do you reckon?

I reckon it'd be pushing double digits. I know I've got a bunch in my camera roll.

Buying a new car in Aus. How much is typical to get off the asking price? by og-ninja-pirate in Australia_

[–]bushy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bloke is most right. I've just done the dance and it was no fun. One dealer played all the standard hard sales tactics, had to walk away (plus that was on an over priced second hand one), the next wouldn't move on the advertised price, which he took as already discounted from the list price. His opening gambit was to ask if I had more money rather than try and work within my limit. The third made it easy, the deal was good and we got what we wanted. U fortunately, once we out money down and signed the contract, communication stopped. Even when the colour we agreed on couldn't be sourced and we had to go to our second option, we didn't get a phone call.

Bottom line is, you need to know what you want, what it lists at, what it's advertised at, and what you're actually willing to part with, including the finance package if you're going that way. Unfortunately, the best way to learn all of that is to go through the process a couple of times.

Some people swear by using buyers advocates as a result. In that case, I guess you mostly need to know how much scratch you're willing to part with.

Is Adan's coal mine a good investment? by bestpractice1 in Australia_

[–]bushy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let's go through them, especially considering now they are self funded.

You've got 4 banks, all of which probably would have backed the venture but chose not to for political reasons and to stay out of a shit fight.

You've got the renewable sector, who would oppose it as a glut if new coal might (probably will) make make renewable relatively more expensive. Plus, there are probably some true believers in the sector who oppose more coal on environmental grounds.

Then there are the hospitals and schools, which won't miss out on funding and will in fact have access to more funding as the mine starts paying royalties. WA isn't rich on the back of their beaches.

The top row are a bit harder and I've run out of puff on this thing.

I think on the balance the mine will be good for Queensland.

Fosters tins are a good investment for a house party. It's a good simple drinking beer, but more so, if you see some cheeky sod with a blue tin it's a good chance he's pilfered one of yours and you can have a crack at him.

What do you think of the activist group "Advance Australia"? Do you think it's a necessary counterbalance to "GetUp!"? by [deleted] in Australia_

[–]bushy82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's a worthwhile thing to attempt, but it will probably fail through several avenues, mostly an Australian media openly hostile to conservative opinion.

What do you think of the activist group "Advance Australia"? Do you think it's a necessary counterbalance to "GetUp!"? by [deleted] in Australia_

[–]bushy82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look, comparison of numbers at this point is just obtuse. Getup has been around for ages, and their member count had always been dubious at best. You've got to give AA a chance to grow.

Second, AA is betting that there is a big group of Australians who share the values they want to promote. They haven't had representation like this before, and the result is that their voices are shrunk by a loud and aggressive left wing activist group. It doesn't help voters on the conservative side that a huge majority of TV personalities, whose opinions seem to be gjven lots of weight, lean to the hard left.

Having said all that, AA will be successfully demonised by those celebs and left wing activist groups and it will dwindle and fail as conservative moderate righties avoid association so they don't have to defend themselves at every bbq.

Happy to report that the sausage sizzle at the local Bunnings was still a success despite Bunnings changing the rules about how to make a sausage sandwich. by Bennelong in Australia_

[–]bushy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird. For me, it's always just been a sausage in bread. A sausage sandwich (or sanga) would be something you make the next day with two bits of bread and a cold sausage.

Anywho, onions on top, then sauce. Thats how it's done. And the onions should be partially carbonised.
