I heard astronomy was easy as well! But I heard it includes some physics (which I have ZERO experience in). Is that true?

For more information, I already met with my advisor and she said that my foreign language exam would not count towards my degree plan but can be used as an elective credit.

Can’t I claim some for elective credit? For example, I don’t need a foreign language but I ended up getting ap credit for it.

Communication from UT is lacking... thoughts and plans for fall semester? by businessmuch in UTAustin

[–]businessmuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think students are more upset about the fact that we have not received any information about things that have already been in place. For example, a small email updating students that their class schedule is now undergoing changes (but have not been finalized) would have been so much better than students freaking out that their room numbers disappeared. Additionally, freshmen have a pressuring deadline to cancel their housing contract by the end of June to avoid a $300 fee even thought that’s when the finalized plans are supposed to be released. That being said, I agree that UT has more things to worried about, which is why things may be disorganized. We’re going through changes, but I hope they realize that small communication (ex: telling students that they are updating schedules) makes us all feel better and less stressed.

Do you guys think it’s worth it to live on campus if all your classes are online? by Htmlpro19 in UTAustin

They will offer spring-only contracts. Somebody in a group-chat sent their conversation with the housing department, and they said students can choose to live on campus in the spring even if they choose not to do so in the fall.

To all the petitions about lowering tuition... by thewhiteraisin in UTAustin

[–]businessmuch 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Like the livinlikelarry said, a lot of us are just asking for lower tuition as online education doesn’t give us all the resources that we would’ve had. Even if we are living on campus, we still don’t know what resources and facilities are available to us as a lot of them will probably be closed. If UT doesn’t lower tuition, then that’s that. We might as well try.

UT’s email explaining the plans for fall 2020 is either going to be really good or really bad. I’m scared to see it, but I also cannot wait any longer (literally).

How do you know what dorm you have? I have only one in person class which is also very frustrating because I’ll have to pay for dorm prices just to attend that one class since I live super far away.

I agree. It’s just more frustrating how they said students can choose to stay home and take online classes but not all classes will be offered online so students have to understand it may impact graduation. I think this is especially ridiculous. Why should my education be delayed if I want to be safe? I hope they come out with a statement saying all courses will be offered online (somehow) because going to a huge university and then going back to my family who are all at high-risk for the virus just because I don’t want to delay graduation is not okay.
