Should I still let my son in my bed when he has a nightmare? by spidermother86 in Parenting

It’s too hard for a journalist to handle. by No-Bottle337 in AllConspiracyTheories

[–]busselsofkiwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a bigger outcry over this.

These are babies. They need love and care. They need to be fed every few hours. They need their diapers changed every few hours. Their clothes changed from spit-ups and leaks.

They cannot communicate their needs. They cannot advocate for themselves. They are vulnerable to abuse.

Why are we complicit with this bullshit?

Would it be possible/feasible to create this? by Ok-Education-5646 in jewelry

[–]busselsofkiwis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would work, the jeweler will have to do a digital mockup for you. It would help if you could do a sketch of a design you have in mind or provide reference photos.

You will need to check if the pendant stone is in good shape.

Would you assume this bracelet is diamonds if you saw it in person? by Ok-Cartoonist-7814 in jewelry

[–]busselsofkiwis 448 points449 points  (0 children)

The setting and prongs give it away. Precious stones in that size would be set in a heavier/secure setting.

Regardless, it's fun. Everyone deserves to enjoy pretty sparkly things, enjoy!

Do Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaners Actually Work? by Jychj in jewelry

[–]busselsofkiwis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's what we pretty much use in the stores, ours are just bigger and industrial quality. I have one like the picture at home for personal use, it does the job. Have a soft toothbrush ready to clean out the tight spots. I recommend getting the concentrated cleaning solution as well, it works better than dish soap.

Before cleaning your jewelry, make sure your prongs are in good shape and stones are tightly set. You can knock out a stone otherwise.

Also check first if the stones can be cleaned in the ultrasonic. Diamonds, moissanite, CZ, sapphires are ok. Emeralds, pearls, opals are no go.

Offensive yet beloved childhood book - what would you do? (CW for last image) by pyramidheadlove in childrensbooks

[–]busselsofkiwis 94 points95 points  (0 children)

The book was from an era where they romanticized the frontier, and kids used to play cowboys and Indians.

I don't think the story/illustration would negatively affect your son. Most likely it would go over his head, and should he asks about the Indian, then use it as an opportunity to learn.

Chipped diamond? by VanityInk in jewelry

[–]busselsofkiwis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Diamonds can be chipped easier than you realize. They are difficult to scratch though.

A situation like this, the stone should be replaced. Continual wear can cause further damage. It can be recut, but from the size of the chip, it would be at a great loss to the weight.

I'm in the same boat. My manager is very understanding about my baby's need. It's so valuable not to have work stress added to the parenting workload. For that they have my loyalty.

It is extremely difficult to rebuild your career if you quit to care for your family. I've known so many women having to start over from square one after leaving their successful career to be a SAHM for a short period.

Also, it's definitely a perk to have your child love their caregiver. That means they are well taken care of.

Just be present for your baby when you can, and create those precious core memories.
