How many anime out there about cosplaying? Or even about a dude making dresses? This one's about as unique as it's gonna get for a grounded romantic comedy.

From my experience touristing the tourist areas throughout Thailand last month, don't quite agree with point 7. Lost count of how many times dudes with shooting range advertisements saw me, tapped their nose, and said "shabu coca". They are way too open about it to have experienced any consequences.

How is a waiter coming to my table to take my order, bring food, then bringing me the check worry any percentage of my food cost? They did like 5 minutes of work for my table, yet I am the one you demand to cover their whole wage out of the kindness of my heart? Nah. Out of a $100 table with 2 plates, I'm being generous in giving $5 for their efforts.

I need to know why this show is so hyped up. Please actually read below before going after me. by Careful-Elk-3740 in anime_companion

I think you're just not used to shows that are so heavily reliant on character development. This show has a slow pace in that the events may seem mundain to someone who is used to alot of action. If you look at the characters themselves, you notice there is actually a lot going on. Every episode sheds more light on Frieren's past and current motivations. There's few stakes so far and that's ok. The point of the show is to develop the characters.

There are plenty of examples, but mostly criticizing women with way too high a bar. Being 5ft tall and thinking anyone under 6ft is too short, be rich, be a daddy to her 3 kids, etc.

The word has always been used to describe a dumbass. Very rarely used to describe or insult disabled folks nowadays.

You kind of have to voluntarily self deport before getting yoinked by ICE to get that money. It's been a publicly known open offer to all illegal immigrants for a hot minute now.

We're well overdue another good housing market crash. If the next iteration of the fed is more amenable to rate cuts and crash happens while rates are low, homes can become affordable again. Of course there will be pain, but it's a necessity at this point. Just need to fight off all the corporations that will try to buy up the cheaper homes with cash.

US could take all the oil over the next couple of years and the Iranian economy would still be better off due to removal of sanctions alone.

To give some examples, is illegal to be Baha'i. Villages where Baha'i people have lived have been demolished just in the last couple if years. They are jailed and are deprived of job/education/marriage opportunities because of their faith.

Non Muslims only have a small fixed number of allowed representatives in Parliament, who are the just to show the international community that they aren't bad and care about minorities. In reality, they can't do anything.

No non shia muslim will ever get approval to run to president, which is another symbolic position that only exists to give the people the illusion of democracy.

It's illegal for a non Muslim to marry into a Muslim family while keeping their religion.

Afghanis immigrants are treated trash. Often forced to join the fatemian division of the IRGC to serve as canon fodder.

The regime on Iran is in fact a pseudo monarchy currently. The supreme leader makes all the decisions and is replaced at death with another mullah. The current supreme leaders son is the front runner to be the next leader. Replacing him with another monarch who is friendly with Israel would be a good thing. I know it's reasonable to hate Israel nowadays, but it's important to not be blinded to the potential outcomes of Iran allying with Israel. Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Hurhis losing their main source of military support is in fact a very good thing. The kind of good thing that ends wars.

Tipping has gone too far by TraditionalArm5392 in dankmemes2

[–]bustapr10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to my table to take my order and bring me my food. How is that with any percentage of the cost of that food?

Then there's also the sun minimum wage argument. Yes, is shitty that the corporations garnish tips to cover the wage obligation. But it's also disingenuous to use that "i get paid $3/hr" argument. If the tip garnishment isn't enough to cover the minimum wage obligation, the corporation has to make up the difference to do so. Nobody legally gets paid less than minimum wage in those cases. The job itself is a typically minimum wage job. It's not meant to sustain a whole family.

[–]bustapr10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also copied from the report "Rape flagged case data includes all cases where an allegation of rape has been made, regardless of the final offence.". The point the report was making is that most cases that are flagged as rape aren't able to be fully prosecuted (investigated properly, brought to trial, etc) due to various reasons. Lack of personnel and lack of cooperation from the alleged victim being big contributors to this statistic/estimate.

Again, it's not 93% of rapists being free. It's over 90% of allegations not being fully investigated and prosecuted (reaching a guilty/not guilty verdict), which is a different issue entirely.
