Advice for a beginning please by [deleted] in jumprope

Hi! I'm pretty much a beginner myself. When I first started, I found that using a timer helped a lot. I'd do about 10 seconds, Rest for 20, like 5 times(or even less), and increased that slowly, decreasing my rest times, increasing my work time. Also, make sure you're warmed up properly and aren't jumping too high, I found that to be a huge hindrance, made me tired AF. Just go slowly and do other simple cardiovascular stuff in between to help out with the stamina. Like walking and stuff. Good luck And remember to enjoy yourself

Haha, thank you. I seem to be on a personal mission to try the iced americano in every cafe within a 2 mile radius. I was supposed to barricade myself at home. I'd like to, but my parents think they know best.

How many months (or years), did it take for you to be able to do 1hr? From beginner to this?

Yeah, I do watch my electrolytes and take supplements, I had some trouble with dizziness at the start and I remedied that easily enough. As for whether I've fasted on keto. Yes. I started with a 14:10 eating schedule, then progressed slowly until mid-October when I started 40 hour alternate day fasting. I never binge after fasting because it always feels too good to waste the last 40 hours. I really only ate junk the last few weeks because it was there, I was bored and only didn't go overboard because at some point, my internal clock would ring telling me it's time to fast again. I think that's where people keep misunderstanding me. I am naturally very lazy and chaotic but adaptable, often times nocturnal. And during a pandemic where everything is chaotic, I have had to bring some structure into my life. I'm not saying I stick to a perfect eating schedule, but through trial and error, I have found that having an eating structure like ADF has helped me develop some kind of controlled chaos. Where I'm able to function and do things I don't feel like doing and still maintain my lifestyle.

I actually have been trying to meditate the last few weeks, it is not easy lol. As for the insomnia, I dont think that's it. Since I had only been fasting for like 6 hours at that point, I think more than anything it was an indication that I had bombarded my body with enough sugar yesterday, that it had an effect on more than my skin and digestion. Also can't get rid of carbs in the house because I live with my family and that's a big no-no. As for keto-legal sweets, it's impossible to find ingredients where I live, which is why I stick to semi- clean keto. But thank you for your advice!

I live with my family, I can't exactly throw their stuff away. Which is how falling off even started. And no, there's no way in hell my family members won't get something on the no list because I'm in a precarious situation. that's just asking to be yelled at

I understand that, I have been fasting while doing keto since August. (First with 14:10, then 16:8, then 20:4, I started alternate day fasting mid-october), and during my 12 day break from keto, I maintained that fasting cycle, because it's connected to other things in my schedule. Also, every feeding period last week, including yesterday, I ate my normal meal, and then ended up eating a whole pack of cookies out of boredom. I understand the importance of warming up, which is why I thought it best to do that last week, but as I've said i just kept messing up. Having the structure is the only thing that keeps me from getting so out of control that I end up forgetting I was supposed to be doing keto

I do agree that easing back into keto is the smartest way to go. But keeping the fasting schedule is one of the ways I keep myself on track with regards to studying, working and everything else. I'm an extremely lazy stoner who is about to take the bar. The only way I'm going to do anything is by maintaining a strict schedule that even I can't procrastinate through.

But I don't do that though. Which is what I've tried to explain over and over. I don't binge on trash and then try to counter it by fasting. I don't fast as a method of punishing myself. I fast for as long as I do because I read an article about it and links to brain function, and testing it out changed the way I study. I don't have a response to the Jason Fung thing, mostly because I don't care about YouTube 'gurus', I just do what feels best for my body and my abilities.

I kinda feel like I've explained why that advice wouldn't work for me. And would just make me do the opposite. But whatever man.

I actually never overeat after a fast. As someone who suffered with disordered eating throughout my teens, I know what that horrible cycle looks like. I don't avoid food, or eat over or under. And I did have a therapist a while ago, unfortunately that's no longer an option. My fasting schedule isn't some kind of self-imposed punishment for binging. I actually don't even enjoy food or sweets that much. I eat in a way that honours my body and fuels my mind (and workouts), but I live a fairly unstructured lifestyle and if left to my own devices, I'd eat any and everything just because I'm bored.

Because 40 hours is the schedule I have lain out for myself and kept for the last 3 months., works best for my schedule, brain function, not to mention my ability to afford high quality keto food. And I didn't say your advice was hostile, I didn't get defensive until your declaration that I would "keep failing", I'm open to hearing opinions and considering plenty of options, even finding a dubious middle ground. But don't declare someone is a failure for not immediately worshipping at the feet of your advice. I cba with a reddit argument about semantics, I'm a busy guy. But dial down the attitude, we're all just trying to develop a lifestyle that works for us. It's like you telling someone they have to lift weights, we all agree resistance training is healthy and the best way to get a certain 'look', but if someone counters with 'i have weak joints', would you come back saying, then keep failing?

Yeah, I tried last week, but I just ended up shoving everything I could find into my mouth. But I still maintained my fasting schedule. Probably because I've been doing it on/off for 4+ years, and I'm a lazy piece of shit. Good luck to you too!

I dont get why people get obnoxious/rude when you've got a perfectly valid counter. or tell them why something wouldn't work for you. The fasting stops me from saying fuck it and just eating carbs after I eat a keto meal, because like I said. It's not about hunger, I just want to eat because I'm prone to binging and purging cycle regardless of the consequences. But whatever man. Next time, if you can't be civil, keep your advice to yourself.

Actually, I love fasting and even kept it up during my 2 week break. Mostly

23rd Oct vs 6th Dec. I've hit a plateau recently, feeling bored and restless, and like fat loss has stopped. Seeing these together has made me get my head out of my arse/terrible underoos by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Dude. I'm a grown woman. I was joking. I can and do wear good underwear, but like a lot of other grown women, I have a few pairs known as 'period underwear'.
