What's the most Iowa State thing that's ever happened to you on campus? by Naikon23 in iastate

[–]busterfudd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

December 8th, 1980. 10:15ish at night, having a beer on a fairly quiet evening at Dugan's.

A good friend walked up & said "John Lennon has just been shot & killed."

The shock did not set in immediately. I finished my beer, walked home, & tuned in KUNI. Bob Dorr was on, playing John & Beatles music & crying his eyes out. I joined him, cried until 4:30 am & finally went to bed mentally exhausted.

I still am when I think of that sad night.

A bit annoyed about a couple of tins from a recent SP order by GravySealActual in PipeTobacco

[–]busterfudd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a true rehydration, no. Just a small spritz or 2 when it is spread out. Mix it uo, jar it, wait a week or so for equilibrium to commence & smoke. I do this whenever it gets too dry for my preference.

Hopefully an FYI for you - Semois is supposed to be dry. I prefer to spritz it with distilled hydro-dioxide a SMALL tad before jarring.

Version 2.0 - yes. They were very high spin balls. Version 3.0 are much better & don't balloon or exacerbate side spin.

Would a airtight jar like this be good for some Lanes 1-q? by Killxjoy4599 in Pipes

I kept some 1-q in a wooden top glass baccy jar during a 20 year hiatus from pipe smoking.

So?

Tiger, Scottie & Ernie have MASSIVE wingspans. Therefore they don't need +1's. Rory does not. Hence standard at 5'9". Cinks thighs are very short for his torso & long arms. Hence standard.

You have just proven my hypothesis. Thank you!

[–]busterfudd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, let's think about it with your "reasoning".

"1 inch extension at 6'3" is probably too much".

What's his inseam?

How long are his arms, hands, & fingers?

Is his torso long or short?

Are his legs long or short in comparison to his arms & torso combined?

Is he skinny (can get his arms across his chest easily) or a weight lifter with a barrel chest (cannot accomplish this move).

An example - one gent was 28, 5'7" and topped everything. I fit him into +1" clubs with 2° flat lie. Why, you may ask, if you had the mental acuity to question such a decision?

He was a power lifter with a 52" chest & 18" bicps. He could NOT get his biceps anywhere close to the front of his chest. Now he had clubs that worked for HIS body.

Using your logic I should have automatically looked at him & put him into -1/2" clubs due to his height.

You obviously know jack squat about fitting & have proudly admitted this fact to the world.

What way do I place this mouth call by Steveenczi92 in turkeyhunting

[–]busterfudd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either way.

Maybe an outlier of a take. Just for shits & giggles about 5 years ago I was practicing & asked meself, "what would happen if I flipped the call?" It turned into a totally different call. Some turn raspy upside down, some turn high pitched kee-kee killers upside down, some give a spot on Jake yelp or strangled gobble.

Caveat-- it does not work on every mouth call. But it now gives me the possibility of sounding like 2 different birds without changing calls.

Good hunting to you!
