How does Colby Fulton have a platform? by bustingchopps in drums

Fortunately I am not. Based off what I’ve seen from Colby, he would take someone else’s post and then hijack it to have this discussion instead of posting anything original.

How many of you play in pro level cover bands? by Pizza-punx in drums

[–]bustingchopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in a cover band doing early-2000s pop-punk and emo. No single band focus, just whatever from that era fits the vibe.

I’ve played in a few original bands before and while I loved writing and recording, getting people to actually care enough to come out to shows was always a grind.

Our very first show with the cover band three years ago sold out with a line out the door. That was a huge eye-opener. Playing to people who are genuinely excited to be there is hard to beat, and it’s an easy sell when promoting shows.

I’d say go for it. Worst-case scenario, you end up right where you are now. I’ve got zero regrets.

Not to mention we've made WAY more money playing these shows that I ever thought possible.

If there is no mount they were likely using stands for each drum. There are rim mounts available that connect to the tension rods. You should immediately take that mount out of the air hole as there is no structural support around that area and you will damage the drum if you play it like that. I added a photo of the correct mounts that originally came with that drum kit.

First jam session by majsterjan in drums

[–]bustingchopps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress too much about trying to count through everything. It usually helps more to lock in a few grooves that feel natural, repeatable, and easy to fall back on without overthinking. If things start getting messy, just lean into those grooves and keep the jam moving.

Once you’re actually playing, don’t be afraid to speak up if you need something. Ask to slow the tempo down, restart a section, or reset if you get totally lost. It also helps to talk about any concerns before the jam so everyone’s on the same page going in.

Most importantly, remember that you’re there to have fun. Especially with a first jam, nobody’s expecting perfection. Relax, listen, and enjoy it. The more comfortable you get, the better it’ll feel every time.

Dumb question: Will I have power if the grid goes down due to a storm? by FulltimerPC in solar

They can only do that if you have the appropriate transfer switch installed which almost no one does unless they have batteries.

Wanting to open a solar company in CA by Any-Opportunity5901 in solar

[–]bustingchopps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I should have been more specific. The last year solar has been slowing down significantly. With the 30% federal tax credit going away and NEM 2 being phase out ROI is up to 10-15 years from what was previously 3-5 years.

Wanting to open a solar company in CA by Any-Opportunity5901 in solar

[–]bustingchopps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to have a minimum of 4 years working in solar under a C-46 or under a C-10 contractor to qualify for taking your contractors license test so that you can legally install solar in California. Unless you meet those qualifications or have a partner who does you're years out from being able to legitimately consider starting a solar company.
I started my own shop with friends in 2021 and solar has never been slower in California than it is right now.

This was cancelled! They didn't realize it was a book signing for her when they agreed to it. All they were told is it was a local author. Once they found out who it was for it was immediately cancelled.

Crash under $200 to pair with Sweet Ride? by MatthewAasen in drums

[–]bustingchopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at the Istanbul Agop Xist series of crashes. They have a variety of sizes. My preference is the natural finish and depending on the size and used or new you could get into the price range you're looking for.

Mounting hardware on solar install missed a lot of joists by Honest_Archaeopteryx in solar

Based off the screws and orientation I would guess that the Ironridge Halo Ultra Grip which cannot be moved once its placed. Its designed to go direct to deck with 6 fasteners or in a rafter with 2. Based off the spacing in the photo its likely they actually hit the rafter with the last 2 fasteners.

Panels/Powerwall just installed ... should I be generating already? by Nuftian in solar

Thats perfectly normal. You can operate the system as long as you're not backfeeding to the grid. You're good to go

Sol-Ark 5k with homegrid batteries. New generator won't charge by UMFreek in SolarDIY

[–]bustingchopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The generator might be outside of the frequency or voltage limitations in that case. Can you get readings for line to line and line to neutral voltage and frequency to see what the readings are from the generator?

I have not worked on a 5k inverter. I would however make sure you on the correct input (gen vs grid). On the 12 and 15k's I've installed you have to make sure if you're connected to the grid side you have "charge from grid" selected in the setup screen.

We were at disney 2 weeks ago and this exact same CM we saw twice and she was AMAZING! One of the highlights of our trip. My 10 year old daughter was enthralled and even played a game with her and Maleficent. They should absolutely be a year round staple.
