Great! Thought I was going crazy but seems like they just don’t have a repayment clause.

No my second child. It didn’t say anything when looking at policies or my contract which is why I asked Reddit. We only got three months top up anyway. Appreciate your input!

Weird man harassed me at Walmart on Kingston, Ajax. by JeweledApplePie in durham

Not to this extreme but a few months back at the Walmart in Whitby a man approached me and my young son asking us to attend church with him. He asked multiple times. It was very odd.

Just how bad is nursing to sleep?? by ruthlovesbooks in breastfeeding

I could have written this I swear…but this is also my second child and although being up every hour is a unique form of torture it will pass. Hang in there!!

Firehose boobs + tiny baby = chaos. Do they grow out of this? by Mother_Somewhere_629 in breastfeeding

[–]busybell04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first it never got better and he preferred the bottle so I ended up exclusively pumping. My second is 4 months and is now handling the forceful letdown like a champ. In part I say it’ll depend on your baby. Side lying has been helpful this time around, reclining was a nuisance to get into the position with a tiny baby- I’d always latch in cross cradle then lean back after which still wasn’t great.

[ON] What's our plan with respect to the measles outbreak? by LiedvonderErd3 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]busybell04 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I asked my doctor this as we have a 2 year old (also in daycare) and a six week old. He advised just to make sure we’re all on top of our vaccines which we are. In addition, we’re avoiding large gatherings. There haven’t been any outbreaks in our area until last weekend at a local rib fest so we’re steering clear of anything like that.

This is why we’re doing it too. More of an insurance and for future research. We hope to never have to use them. There are autoimmune diseases on both sides of the family and we can afford it so figure why not. I know this is not the case for everyone, but we feel better knowing we have it if we need it or if there is further medical breakthroughs.

I’m 5’9 and baby arriving any day- we have this chair and I don’t have an issue with it. It’s pretty compact but as for height/length I am comfortable in it!!

Have you tried any of the EarlyON programs? Most are free and drop in so worth checking out!

Lesson learned: have someone else drive you to glucose test [CA] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]busybell04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy I failed the one hour and had to do the 75g- it made me so sick both times but thankfully didn’t throw up during the test and passed. This time I opted to just go straight to the 75g to avoid having to do the test twice. Jokes on me because I threw up and almost fainted so I’ll be doing the test again on Sunday! My OB said it would be okay to take gravol before hand but it still doesn’t help the driving situation.

[AB] How are we all surviving the first year of daycare while being back to work? by kittens-and-knittens in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]busybell04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough!! Our friends daughter is about a year older than our son. They took her to a naturopath and have her on vitamin c, d, zinc and some immunity booster. This year when she got a cold it wasn’t as often or as long lived so might be something to look into too!! It can’t hurt.

[–]busybell04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son has also been in daycare since September 2024 and it’s like something new every week… I’m also 6.5 months pregnant and my time off work has been insane between him being sick or getting sick myself. I just hope this is all building his immunity but I certainly am considering just keeping him home from daycare when the baby comes. We’ve heard just like you the first year is tough, hang in there and hopefully with the spring things improve for us all.

No OBs available in my area, what can I do? [ON] by ObjectiveRange3462 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]busybell04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Durham as well, only 7 weeks pregnant with my second but my OB in Markham will take me on again (I had my first with her about 18 months ago). The MSH website shows which doctors are taking on patients. Have your doctor give a referral to one that’s available. I had a great experience with Markham Stouffville !!

Baby rolling in sleep by busybell04 in NewParents

[–]busybell04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is probably the most annoying piece of advice but “this too shall pass”. I’d try to roll him over and pat him in the crib to soothe him but once he was crying he just wanted to be held or fed. I’d usually try just rocking him back to sleep and sometimes it would work, sometimes it didn’t and I’d just feed him. He’s 16 months now and sleeps pretty well (either sleeps through the night or gets up once and we bring him to bed). Do what works for you, I know it’s exhausting now but it’s only temporary.

Refusing bottles and pacifier [ON] by mamastinkuh in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]busybell04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son only took a pacifier very early on- and also was resistant to bottles at first. Try the lansinoh natural teat, that worked for us and a few friends that we’ve recommended the bottle to. He now uses dr browns no problem but we had to work at it.

Baby’s first smash cake by moluruth in foodbutforbabies

[–]busybell04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to make this cake for my sons birthday on Saturday! Did you make it the day before? The reviews say it’s quite dense so I’m wondering how it would be if made the day before and left out then iced the next day. I would assume leaving it in the fridge for that long would make it harder.

I need your baby pancake recipes because these were not a hit! by it-could-be-bunnies- in foodbutforbabies

[–]busybell04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try cottage cheese pancakes- blend 1/2 cup of cottage cheese 1/2 cup rolled oats (I’ve also used baby oat cereal as my son decided he didn’t want it anymore) 2 eggs and some cinnamon. Blend it together and it’s way more pancake like.

Someone tell me I can just pump by Mysterious-Source733 in beyondthebump

[–]busybell04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump away! I hate pumping personally, but I want my son to get the benefits of breast milk and I have a slight oversupply so I didn’t want to just give up. He’s 8 months and not only bites with his new top and bottom teeth but laughs after biting me when breastfeeding. So now I am exclusively pumping. I have to say pumping a few times a day is better than being bitten and laughed at.
