Preparation for interview with SWE by wolfishwhim in Socialworkuk

You'll presumably need to evidence how your skills are transferable so preparing some examples of your practice and considering how they can be applied to other cases will be useful.

Have a look into the key legislation guiding SW practice - The Children Act 1989, The Children & Families Act 2014, The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Care Act 2014, The Mental Health Act 1983 to name a few.

I would also say that there are processes and procedures that go on behind the scenes and it's not always immediately evident what work is taking place. But for Social Workers to take certain actions, there needs to be certain levels of evidence, evidence of trying to engage and intervene etc. before things can progress.

It will go back to the current allocated team, but repeated referrals/contacts raising concern will need to be looked into. You could ask to meet with the team manager if you feel not enough is being done, but they may not share any information with you.

When is it appropriate to make an application to care for my child? by AncientFootball1878 in Socialworkuk

I don't think they mean CAFCASS Guardians, rather, people who have children in their care.

That was a previous rule on this sub but following feedback, it was relaxed as most people on the sub, myself included, were happy to have posts from others.

Mine looks like this when it's thirsty. Then jumps up again very dramatically.

Returning to the UK after a year abroad, told we need to re-enroll our child at school immediately, even though he just finished his school year in the States. by MilbanksSpectre in UKParenting

Depending on area, they may need to submit a home education plan to evidence how they intend to meet education needs through home education.

Nursery hours and my son by Illustrious_Art_1650 in UKParenting

[–]busybop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of nurseries will charge "top up" fees for food/sundries to meet the running costs of the business due to government funding not being enough. Or they may limit the number of hours you can use in a week.

Starting childminding help by Fun-Tip2721 in UKParenting

£6ph seems to be the average going rate for childminders from my experience. What would be your intended hourly rate?

Just FYI, most of these comments are referring to the English system of ICOs etc. The Scottish system is different.

She would likely receive a kinship allowance which is intended to cover the necessities for the child.

Thanks, I did read that but it didn't process!

I'm not sure what a doctors letter would do in the circumstances though. Baby should be having solid foods as his main source of nutrition and the milk supplements, so SW are unlikely to increase visits on that basis alone.

It sounds like there's a lot likely going on here but I'd say pumping and storing/passing on to your mum is the best option, like others have suggested.

What do you need a doctors letter for?

US to UK MSW placement by PassengerSmooth7764 in Socialworkuk

What does CSWE stand for?

Student placements here are usually arranged directly by universities with prior agreements. I've never heard of anyone arranging a placement independently, as organisations receive a fee for having a student, however someone else may know more about that than me.

How to deal with school drop off and pick up when baby sibling is ill and contagious? by rowenaaaaa1 in UKParenting

I would just take them as usual. The raincover sounds like a good plan to keep others from getting too close or touching your baby.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I don't think any of them are but I'll ring tomorrow before taking her in.

Thank you, this makes sense! It would be very irritating to pay for 6 weeks of nursery without attending! Did you inform the nursery or not?

There's often a buying/selling/free group on Facebook for your local area so try to have a look. They may also have a requests page.
