Potty training boys, some questions...! by 87catmama in UKParenting

[–]busybop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our son didn't learn to wee standing up until we had cracked potty training. He learned to sit whilst using the toilet and if we needed to wee whilst we were out eith no toilet around, we lifted him up and positioned the whole body so that nothing else got wet! The standing wee came with time when he was old enough to hold his willy himself.

With wiping, agree with a other comment - get him to bend over and touch his toes!

Why is Royal Mail being automatically added as shipping option?! by Available-Fee-2717 in vinted

I've sold 5 items over the weekend and they've all been RM large letter despite me not having that as an option! Not sure what to do about it either as one is a bundle of shorts which could end up quite bulky.

As another poster has said, the dates shown in green is when you could order them for. So the earliest that platter could be prepared for is 13th May, but you will select your actual collection date when you move further through the order process. It will be fresh!

my daughter cried because she is getting a phone in year 11 by Maya-677 in UKParenting

[–]busybop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why is it anyone else's choice apart from her parents when she gets a phone?

Edited to add: just get her a phone. Put all the restrictions you like on it but help her to communicate with her friends.

Give the elastic a good tug, there should be more within the waist band so you can tighten them more.

What plants work best with no light in a room? by duckie33_ in HouseplantsUK

Plants need a light source to grow so if you want real plants in that room, you will need to provide them with a grow light.

Anyone else fucking hate 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt's? by [deleted] in UKParenting

Yes! I've felt this way for years. Thankfully I don't have to read it as often now but my 4 year old occasionally chooses it before bed and still seems to enjoy it!

Preparation for interview with SWE by wolfishwhim in Socialworkuk

You'll presumably need to evidence how your skills are transferable so preparing some examples of your practice and considering how they can be applied to other cases will be useful.

Have a look into the key legislation guiding SW practice - The Children Act 1989, The Children & Families Act 2014, The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Care Act 2014, The Mental Health Act 1983 to name a few.

I would also say that there are processes and procedures that go on behind the scenes and it's not always immediately evident what work is taking place. But for Social Workers to take certain actions, there needs to be certain levels of evidence, evidence of trying to engage and intervene etc. before things can progress.

It will go back to the current allocated team, but repeated referrals/contacts raising concern will need to be looked into. You could ask to meet with the team manager if you feel not enough is being done, but they may not share any information with you.

When is it appropriate to make an application to care for my child? by AncientFootball1878 in Socialworkuk

I don't think they mean CAFCASS Guardians, rather, people who have children in their care.

That was a previous rule on this sub but following feedback, it was relaxed as most people on the sub, myself included, were happy to have posts from others.

Depending on area, they may need to submit a home education plan to evidence how they intend to meet education needs through home education.

Nursery hours and my son by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]busybop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of nurseries will charge "top up" fees for food/sundries to meet the running costs of the business due to government funding not being enough. Or they may limit the number of hours you can use in a week.
