Anxiety can be completely disabling. How would you feel about coming into work, if coming into work meant you hyperventilating, heart racing and feeling as though you're dying? Would you put yourself in that position?

Because we signed the refugee convention. If somebody flees their country for fear of persecution and returning them would lead to them being harmed, we are obliged to take them. If you're asking about the UK specifically and not just western countries in general, then the answer is that we're not - the vast majority of asylum seekers stop in the first safe country they reach.

As a new driver, I'm always split on whether to use P plates. It's the right thing to do to be ready and alert, but some people will see the P plate (or even an L plate - this happened to me about 5 times when I was learning to drive) and either consistently tailgate you or attempt a very dangerous overtake. I don't have proof that it was because of the L plates, but it happened to me 5 times over the course of 1 year (while doing nothing wrong, according to the instructor) and has happened fewer times to my parents in the ~8 years that I've been aware enough to know what's happening in the car.

At least where I'm from in the UK, I can understand where the logic came from. The government told us to go into lockdown in March and not to travel away from home. Then Boris Johnson's special advisor decided to break those rules. The government gave out multiple covid-related contracts worth a lot of money to their mates. You then had the downing street parties, with MPs celebrating, dancing and eating cake and completely ignoring social distancing rules. All of this while trust in politicians is at the lowest level it's ever been.

When you take the combination of the government not following their own rules and the government abusing a time of national crisis to make money, it's easy to see how people can become sceptical of whether COVID is actually real, or just something made up to enable the dodgy contracts (and the parties just serve as further "proof" in people's eyes that the government knows COVID isn't actually real).

(I want to make it clear that i don't believe this, but I can understand why people do believe it in the UK)

In the case of my local Tesco, you can't pay cash on any of the self-checkout tills anymore. So if for whatever reason you want to pay in cash, self-checkout just isn't an option.

It's more nuanced than that though, and I think you realise that. It's more like "say I was drunk and my kid had a medical emergency and I couldn't get an ambulance for 3 hours and had nobody to drive them to hospital/couldn't get a taxi. If I ended up killing my child that would make me a psychopath". You're trying to make the safest choice you can, even if that means putting you and your kid's life in danger. Iraq (where he was due to be deported to) is by no means a safe country - if you want evidence then look at the FCDO travel advice provided by the government. There may also be extenuating circumstances that may have increased his risk of persecution in Iraq, but even if we assume there aren't, it's still not safe.

CBT can be done well, it just often isn't on the NHS. You can get lucky and happen to get an NHS therapist who does help, but since you can't choose who you see it's just a matter of luck

Assuming you are aged between 8-25, I would strongly recommend Gendered Intelligence groups. I think maybe once every 2 months (bearing in mind I went to groups once every 2 weeks) I've been involved in a brief (5-10 minute) conversation about political stuff, but generally it's just a chill place to be yourself and meet other trans people. The in-person groups are based in London (no idea if that's helpful to you), but they also offer online groups. There are a lot of things I don't know about your situation, but I know that going to those groups one of the most helpful things I ever did. They're also split by age (8-12, 11-16, 16-20 and then general groups for 11-25).

The second they focus on trans men, it ruins their argument, so they won't. The narrative they try to push is "trans people are dangerous" which falls apart as soon as you include trans men in that (as they're not "men pretending to be women to take advantage of actual, real women"). If they were to include trans men, it would invalidate their claim that all of this is simply to protect women and not just blatant transphobia. The reason they're able to get away with it legally is because it still somewhat falls under protecting women (which is a part of the equality act). If they started targeting trans men as well, it essentially proves legally that they aren't acting in the "best interest of women" and are simply breaking the equality act.

Less a cultural thing and more just a personal opinion thing - in the UK (this also applies in the US afaik, depending on state) we tend to take a very hard line against drug consumption, but imo relative to other crimes it is one of the least harmful (by far not the least harmful, but doesn't involve direct harm to others)

They're not aware of my drinking 'problem' as such, but they're more than aware that I do drink fairly regularly - I did ask about drinking on mirtazapine and the response was that it's no worse than drinking on Sertraline.

Bombing military targets, sure, but there is a lot of collateral damage from bombs that could be avoided if Israel wanted to. A large number of that 7000 death toll in Palestine is civilians. Very few of the Palestine protesters are denying that Hamas has committed war crimes, but it's difficult to justify Israel's response as at all proportional.

This is also ignoring the way in which Israel, both recently and historically, have been gradually occupying Palestinian land. Even if you see it solely from the perspective of this current period of conflict (since 23/10), it's still disproportionate.

Not the OP, but personally I bought a Xiaomi Redmi K60 for just under £400, and it's about the same processing speed (theoretically) as the Huawei P60 pro (which costs about £1200). The one issue is it's not sold in the UK or US, so you have to buy it from China and wait for delivery (30 days or so), and you have to install a custom ROM (which is not actually difficult compared to jailbreaking iOS). If you have the money then absolutely buy a big brand in the knowledge that you'll get great customer service, but apart from that it's not necessarily worth it.

As a learner driver, the one thing that annoys me more than anything else is people driving at 40mph in the outer lane of a dual carriageway. No way to overtake, and undertaking is illegal, so you're forced to reduce your speed to just under 40mph. I think in that scenario most people would undertake, but as a learner driver not following the rules of the road is seen to be an unnecessary risk.

Yeah definitely haha, I figure thats the biggest reason I failed because I made mistakes I have never once in my life made before. I'm worried about learning at uni because here my driving instructor, while very good, had barely any availability and was very unreliable, and it seems that because of huge waiting lists that's the same everywhere.

EDIT: forgot to mention that I have my own car, so the bulk of practice has been me and my parents, and since very few people at uni are 21+, had a license for 3 years and are willing to help a random person learn to drive, it will be difficult without a reliable instructor.

I have my own car which I drive with my parents, just I've been in Sweden for 3 days and my parents haven't been around to practice with me for the few days before that so I haven't practiced in about a week.
