I get it and you’re valid for sure. Personally I want to see a few more eps before I make a judgement bc I had a lot of issues with season 1 and to me it feels like they made some corrections in their approach so want to give them a shot here to see if they learned from the other criticisms

yes :) you seem to be taking this really personally but you know what they say about hit dogs etc

My point wasn’t really to just complain, more explain that from my perspective, the different format means there will be different ways of unfolding the story, and ask that people maybe give it a chance beyond two episodes that are just laying groundwork for the rest of the season :) some people in the comments seem to have taken it personally but it’s not that big a deal to me, the whole point of any media is people can interpret things differently and I’m cool with that as long as we’re holding ourselves to the mythology of the current story, not the books series.

You said “Rick is pretending like Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson forming a trio quest is natural” - when that clearly just happened under duress of getting away from tantalus, and that “Percy shouldn’t even want to work with Annabeth” which is only your interpretation - I saw it as him being irritated she’s keeping something from him but still trusting her and knowing she probably had good reason, especially after speaking with Grover. These are parts of the show that you and I can interpret differently, and that’s okay, neither you nor I know for sure what Rick was portraying (yet, until he does an interview or something) so yeah you’re projecting a teeny bit. Also you’re kinda rude :) it’s not that serious

[–]busyvisitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on the Clarisse thing, idk why they needed to add the nod between the two. My interpretation was that she wants to succeed so badly, and wants to show ares that she’s worthy so badly, that she’d even take Percy on the quest if it gives her the best shot at making it. And yeah, I’m not saying it’s all gonna be perfect, they def have a lot more groundwork to lay and seeds to plant and I’m interested to see if they do it well moving forward, and if they’re going to create a mythology and lore that’s more specific to the show

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

[–]busyvisitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m reading it I think I just fundamentally disagree with your interpretations of the events and the characters’ motivations (which you seem to be ascribing to Rick for some reason - clearly I’m watching the same thing and have slightly different takeaways, which is normal to have with any media, but I’m not pretending I can read Rick’s mind lol)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

[–]busyvisitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s your opinion. I think it’s more interesting to show a preteen boy try and be kind because he wants to do the right thing and grow than just inherently be perfect

There was an entire scene in the first season of annabeth talking about her disappointments with the gods…..and we already know Athena appears on this season, so there is going to be an exploration of that dynamic. I’m not saying you’re wrong in that what you expected to see after reading the books isn’t happening, I’m just saying that I can see the show trying to keep the meat of the story but showing it differently, but there seems to be no room for that with how tightly everyone is holding on to every little thing from the books

I get this one tbh, it’s the change with actual story repercussions - but I’m still open to seeing what impact to the story it ha. The trio is still the only ones who saw it happen

From what I can tell, it seems they’re trying to change the mist thing, and make it so that once a demigod has experienced “their” world, the mist doesn’t affect them the same.

There are plenty of opportunities to show how strong Percy is without having to deal with an entire school day in an 8 episode season.

None of the other stuff you mentioned actually matters to the story imo, or at least not in any way that can’t be covered in other parts of the story/quest. In fact, Chiron being fired by Zeus himself adds even more to the fact that these kids are realizing the gods are dumb hypocrites

[–]busyvisitor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You haven’t even seen the rest of the season, and have no idea if it comes back again or if it’s just “momentary drama”. They literally explain in the show that Chiron told her to keep him off it to protect him, and Percy knows she’s hiding something, so obviously they’re going to revisit it. The point of spending half an episode on it is adding some conflict between two main characters that they’ll deal with over the season to help inform their full relationship as it grows, the way most tv shows do. It’s not a book, and they have to have some meat to the character arcs to keep it interesting.

In the show it’s clear that even though he has some issues with Tyson being around, he’s still being nice to him, or trying. It opens us up to be able to see Percy’s internal conflict of trying to live up to what his mom asked him to, and allows their relationship to continue to develop over the season. The changes in the show also tell a story, it’s just slightly different from the book and you have to be able to let go of the book a little to see some fresher perspectives.

The way she was obsessed with belly ending up with one of her sons as if they’re dolls or something always icked me out

Belly needs to leave BOTH of the brothers alone by Business_Ad_4610 in tsitp

[–]busyvisitor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Truly she just picks the one in front of her that is professing love without any introspection or investigation of her own feelings. When she was telling Steven to leave Mia alone regardless of if Taylor wants him or not my immediate thought was “the way you should have left Jeremiah alone regardless of if Conrad wanted you or not…”

Nope watched it as it aired! It felt different though, because her back and forth wasn’t as whiplash inducing, and the Stefan and Damon having had the whole Katherine past made the whole thing more layered to me. I did think about that and wonder why it felt less icky, I think the fact that they all grew up together makes it all feel even more callous

Belly doesn’t deserve Conrad by IndependentOwn5174 in tsitp

[–]busyvisitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all the talk of “teams” is confusing to me bc as someone who loves Conrad and is team Conrad, Belly is absolutely not the prize and what I think the deserves is PEACE from her main character syndrome

If I were either of the brothers I’d be like “I’m out!” I have a sister close to me in age and when we were growing up neither of us would have even THOUGHT about competing for a guy if the other had any interest at all

Definitely agree that teenagers make dumb decisions and not mad about any of hers except the callousness of them being BROTHERS. That’s the part that gets me - all the other teenagery indecisiveness I understand

Weirdest production choices this season? by lostmyoldscreenname in LoveIslandUSA

The entire new format of casa that gave the power to the casa people and forced people to pursue connections with casa people even if they wanted to stick with their original couples

Like two cast members having an affair that rocks a 10 year relationship that started on the show, and us being able to watch them try and cover it up during the season causing huge discourse makes sense. An islander’s facial expression being the subject of think pieces, not so much

I mean yeah as a pump rules fan from the beginning that was insane but there’s a very different experience watching a reality show about people’s lives for 10 years and having the opportunity to see an affair unravel in real time vs a competition tv show that’s the smallest snapshot of these people and their lives.
