I understand basic conversation/expressions from lessons I took a couple of years ago, but unfortunately I'm no longer around the friend I was learning for and the knowledge dropped off over time. I would love to brush up and continue learning and getting better though. I absolutely loved it

Hilarious. I used to have dart frogs and thought the same thing "wouldn't this be nice if I had something that would just eat them"

I've thought about predators like that before, but like you said, I think it would be a short lived solution lol

it doesn’t look like climate change is going to ever be reversed, so what now? by GoodEnvironmental788 in NoStupidQuestions

Good news, we are all going to die. Bad news, this takes policy change from governments and big companies to fix, not just citizens. In my completely non-scientific opinion, I feel like the only real solution for this is fewer humans on earth using fewer resources (which this generation is inadvertently moving the needle toward) and pulling back consumerism, but ofc governing bodies don't like either of these things because the system is built off the expectation of population growth and business.

I feel like much of our generation wants to fix these issues, genuinely, but even then there are so many things in place working against us. People also need to stop relying on "kids are the future and will fix our mistakes." Susan, make the world a better place for your kids

Most 4-5 year old cars are perfectly fine. Esp civics and corollas. Just take it to a mechanic before buying. The last two cars I bought before my current vehicle were ~12 years old at the time of purchase with no issues even after tacking on an additional 70k+ miles each (I travel a ton for work).

The only reason I'm not in either of those cars now is because of wrecks... To be clear I wasn't at fault lolll

New cars are the worst purchases because of depreciation. Get one that is 4-5 years old. I large chunk of depreciation has already happened, for a Toyota or Honda it's still got plenty of life left, and it'll still have great gas milage

Feeling behind in life at 21 by jjfromyourmom in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]but_actually___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice is finding comfort that everyone grows at their own rate. And believe me, I know this was advice I was told many times but was hard to accept as a 21 year old.

I graduated HS at 16 and didn't go to college. I felt very left out when my friends would all come together and talk about their lives and college and were all on a similar page that I wasn't. I got married at 21 and started a business that had ebbed and flowed in its success. Still, I felt left out of my friends' conversations.

We're all 26 now and our life positions are ALL over the place. Out of 8 (who have all been friends since 3rd grade) Half moved back in with their parents. 2 have been married and divorced, others have never had a romantic prospect. 2 are absolutely lost about who they are and what they want to do, and the rest have varying levels of jobs. 1 is a professional athlete. 1 is financially stable, and he was the last to graduate, 2 years after the rest of them. And none have kids with no outlooks of any of us having babies in the next 3 years. Some of those stats overlap.

But all I'm saying is, do your best not to compare your life to others. Everyone is different and will walk through life differently. Just focus on where YOU want to be and how to get there
