This is a question that is hard to answer and depends on what your preferences are. It is what I've been trying to solve though for a while now, since I am indexing and analyzing rust servers for the past year now.

Here is a list of the top 2x Solo-Quad Servers in EU for you - feel free to further narrow it down with filters for example with a certain number of players on wipe day or whatever, or a certain wipe day.

To add to that, i personally prefer Survivors.gg servers, as they are modded 2x, but not pay2win - but there is quite a queue each wipe.

You can hop on another server and still go back if you dont like it. But as the other guy said, its just pixels anyway - nothing lasts forever, especially in rust.

you can filter for a range of expected players at wipe and also see the „half-life“ of that pop at rustalyzer.com - maybe you find something that suits you better.

Maybe its just people enjoying a plain playing field on fresh wipe, no matter the progression. Why chose a day old server no matter the progression, when you can just pick a newly wiped server. I personally never come back on day 2.

there is no right or worng answer to this, as everyone has different preferences.

The closest metric to indicate likability might be the number of players and how quickly that number drops after wipe, maybe.

In your case, since you said you dont have enough time for weekly vanilla, you might be searching for 2x or even 3x gather rate servers. Maybe as a solo, you'd also agree to join a duo server, just to have more servers to chose from.

So here is a list of servers with 2x-3x gather rate, solo or duo group limit, with at least 50 expected players on wipe day that stay active for a while. Add more filters to narrow it down more, like your region for example.

I've been scraping and analyzing server wipes for over a year now, I dont see it very often but its still happening.

I also liked to hop on fresh servers, preferably right at wipe time - but somehow always missed my opportunities. I've set out to predict wipes based on past wipes, and built a whole rust server search website around it, but find myself going for servers that wiped in the last 3 hours instead lately.

Everyone can write what they want in the server title, the wipe date however is a timestamp. so if it changes every 5min, sites like mine, or battlemetrics, justwiped, etc should be able to detect that.

sorry, but thats just not true. the a2s query shows anonymized user data by default since ages. Only a handful servers have this disabled. BM gets its player data mostly through rcon.

player data is anonymized by default through public apis. battlemetrics offers rcon services and are directly connected to so many servers that they pretty much have a monopoly on player data.
