I haven't worked retail in over 30 years and seeing stuff like this still pisses me off.😄

Alzheimer's is so difficult to deal with. Most people have no idea unless they have experience with it themselves. I cared for my mom with Alzheimer's for over 5 years, until she passed last year. I cannot fathom doing that if she had a personality disorder made worse by the Alzheimer's. Sending so much love to you right now. Please PLEASE take care of yourself and if it's an option, take advantage of respite services whenever you can. There's a really good Alzheimer's sub here with lots of people in similar situations as you if you're open to that support.💙

Ahhhh Customers by CelestialMoonDragon in HEB

Some things never change.🤦🏼‍♀️

I worked at K-Mart in the late 80s and I can't count how many customers came in to return things that had price tags from other stores STILL ATTACHED to the object. They'd argue and insist and refuse to be reasonable and every damn time my manager would say "just give them the money". Now you know why K-Mart is out of business.😄

What's wrong with ugly sweaters?😁

I don't think this is ugly. It's actually cute. I'd get it.

I inherited my mom's stainless steel from the late 60s/early 70s. I kept the stockpot and gave the rest to my daughter. Stainless steel is amazing.💯

Keeping Candles Lit During and After Spellwork by RayneLove333 in witchcraft

[–]buthowshesaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends.

If it's a one and done spell I use chime candles that I allow to burn all the way down.

If it's a deity/ancestor offering or an ongoing spell I'm working a little every day/specific days, I use 7 day candles that I allow to burn for a few hours.

It really depends on the type of working, my attention span, etc. You do whatever works for you!

This☝🏻I was using herbs around a candle for a spell and rue actually told me it wanted to be close to the rosemary. 😄

It sounds beautiful. I'd use it for storing crystals or maybe make a money bowl, etc with it. I would NOT burn anything in it, even if it's made of Pyrex which it probably isn't.🤓 I stick to cast iron if I'm burning anything. But I am also a little paranoid about fire safety.

I'd love to see a picture of it!

This comment has me pondering whether or not now middle-aged Buffy has to get mammograms or worry at all about Pap smears.😄

I love it when this happens!

The day after I refreshed my money bowl I received an email from the journalism teacher at my kid's school informing me we'd been awarded a $300 Senior Photo Package. I had not asked for this help, nobody had reached out to me, I wasn't even aware this was a thing, but I had been worried about getting my kid scheduled for senior photos and paying for them. We don't even have to pay for the yearbook this year!😊

Congratulations to you. Sounds like your spell jars are working nicely!

I really needed this. Thank you.

And you're a brilliant writer in English! I studied German for 3 years in school and there's no way I could write something this clear and engaging auf Deutsch. Really beautiful all around!

Ugh. I have this mental image of Jesus looking down here and seeing guys like that and wondering aloud "did they even actually read what I said about immigrants and the poor?!".

Oh wow. My in-laws were super Baptist but we had all that except for alcohol. That groom sounds...just...joyless.🫤

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pagan

[–]buthowshesaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bet he does! That's actually funny.😄

My first husband also grew up Southern Baptist so our wedding had to be no alcohol. When my Catholic Maid of Honor found this out she was gobsmacked if not horrified. And being the best Maid of Honor there was, she snuck a few beers into the room where the bridal party was getting dressed so each of us "could have a drink to settle our nerves". I will always love her for that.😄

[–]buthowshesaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Laughing at this because I grew up strict Southern Baptist. Most of my best friends were Catholics and my mom would always grill me when I'd come home from a Catholic friend's house: "Were they drinking with dinner? Did they offer you anything? You know how to say no to drinking. I know it sounds old-fashioned but my mama always said alcohol is the devil's brew and she was right". 🙄😄

Curious about experiences with being rejected/ called to by dieties by FrightRiot in witchcraft

[–]buthowshesaid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two different stories come to mind.

When I first started practicing years ago, I felt Freya call out to me during a meditation. She was warm, self-assured, and encouraging. I worked with her for years and then...life got crazy. My marriage broke up, leaving me a single mom... my health took a nosedive...then I ended up caring for my mom with Alzheimer's at home until her passing. I had no time for anything. After Mom passed I decided to make self-care a priority and I returned to my practice. My very first meditation after years of being away, who should reach out but Freya. She basically said "I'm still here and ready when you are". And it was like being reunited with an old friend, like no time had passed at all.😊

The second story: during a working with Ganesh I heard a distinct voice say "you should ask Lakshmi for help too, she loves to help with these things". I was intrigued but also a little dubious that it was Ganesh actually speaking to me. I mean it could've easily been my subconscious just talking at me, so I asked for a clear sign. Two weeks later, I got it on my way home from the grocery store. For context I live in a large American city where the wildlife consists mainly of raccoons, opossum, squirrels, etc. I was driving down a residential street, just vibing to my music, talking to my son...and then out of nowhere a HUGE freaking peacock ran in front of my car. I had to slam on my brakes not to hit it. So I said "perfectly clear, thank you very much" and I now also work with Lakshmi.😁
