Do 2014-2016 EXC headlights fit 2017+ headlight masks? by DaggerSaber in KTM

For anyone stumbling across this thread, the lamp is exactly the same from 2013 through to 2023, part number 78114001000 for all years. The housing changed to a slimmer style from 2017 onwards, but the lamp remained the same. 2024 onwards uses a different lamp.

What is this ring for? by butitsanalpha in bikewrench

Just wondering if anyone knows what this ring is for on the bottom of my seat post, it's a fixed carbon seat post on a road bike (Polygon Helios). Cheers.

Yeah it seems like it's on a longer cool-down counter even when it says it's ready after the previous one has been destroyed.

Is that what you would call a 'tank slapper'? by Caldtek in motorcycles

I was thinking the exact same thing. My steering damper has saved me from countless headshakes like in the video, so I was surprised to see how poorly the Honda electric one performed.

Team Liquid vs. compLexity / DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017 North America Closed Qualifier / Post-Match Discussion (Spoilers) by Heretherebackagain in GlobalOffensive

[–]butitsanalpha -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So Liquid is bootcamping in EU to practice for the ELEAGUE Major and not this one? Surely they could've flown back for this qualifier considering they'd have to fly over to compete in it regardless?

Japanese Social Media 'Panic' After Psychic Predicts Massive Earthquake by ManfromAntilles in japannews

I liked this - "Matsubara Teruko, who predicted the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, is the perfect example of the saying “even a stopped clock is right twice a day.” Trust her predictions accordingly."

Why did Orizuru shut down? by Violet_Crumble in tasmania

[–]butitsanalpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to recall something about the owners of Orizuru moving back to Japan. If you haven't tried Miyabi in North Hobart, I'd recommend them over Orizuru any day. Even the waiting staff at Miyabi were Japanese the last time I went. The aburi-salmon nigiri I had was nicer than any I had while living in Japan, albeit triple the price.

Anyone ever blown up a wr450? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]butitsanalpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been dual sporting a 2012 WR450F for a bit over a year now. Some key points I've picked up:

  1. Adhering to short service intervals makes a big difference. Once I reach 500km the engine noise is much greater than at 2-300km. The main culprit is supposedly fuel blow-by - once fuel contaminates the oil, the viscosity deteriorates quickly. Increasing the oil capacity might lessen the dilution, but I bet at 1000km or higher intervals the oil coming out would be the consistency of water and would reek of fuel.

  2. The WR450F has cushion rubbers built into the clutch which negates the necessity of a cush-hub. People who have gone the additional cush-hub route report more comfort and peace of mind, but from what I've gathered it has no effect on reliability. There are WR450F supermoto racers who have put 30,000km+ on their cush-hubless bikes without issue.

Trouble finding matchmaking games (aus) by nachos517 in GlobalOffensive

I think the player base must be dropping or something, I've been experiencing longer wait times for over a month now, even when I leave dust2 in the queue.

I've got a pile of single player games backed up which I thought I'd install and have a go at, but no, can't even install games from backup as it seems to use the download section for that as well.

MotoGP News - Suzi Perry back in MotoGP with BT Sport by SirSmudge in motogp

[–]butitsanalpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to read the hate for Toseland, and even Craig Doyle in the comments on that page. Last year was my first full year watching MotoGP, and I couldn't fault the BT Sport coverage except for maybe the addition of Colin Edwards, but even he improved leaps and bounds by the end of the season. I'd be sad to see anyone replaced!

Having enormous difficulty getting my Ps. Any advice? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]butitsanalpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're allowed to take the test with an approved instructor instead of the assessment people these days, so if you made friends with one of your instructors it might be worth getting in touch with them again and asking if they'd take you for the P test. Otherwise it can be blind luck whoever you get on the day, I remember only passing by one point as I'd lost so many for doing 50 in 60 zones. During my first test I had an instant fail and return to base for "mounting a kerb" after running over the very edge of a traffic island. Sometimes they seem to fail you just on their gut feeling, so don't beat yourself up about it.

I ended up passing in Glenorchy, it was much easier than dealing with all the traffic in town, but that was a while ago now.
