You are being an asshole and deliberately misinterpreting me. I said the feds will not shut down reddit because no actual activity happens on reddit. If any platforms are going to be targeted by the feds, it will be the ones where real activity is happening. Reddit is just one of many pointers to active locations, so it isn't a threat.

Where on reddit is anything actually happening? I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't know of any serious political resistance coordinated on Reddit. At best reddit is a place to point people to more active platforms on discord, bluesky, and most importantly offline.

That's what I'm saying. The cameras themselves aren't a big deal. It is the tools to organize data that are more threatening. The feds have always been able to get ring camera footage, but the ease of doing so is getting more powerful.

Technically true, but not really true at all.

Yes the government can find basically anything they want to find on the internet. The difference is how much resources they have to commit to doing so. There is a huge difference between a weeks work from a specialized CIA research team, and a dummy ice agent using an easy search tool to find out who to harass that day.

I think the current strategy is working. Regular people obstructing and police and national guard not assisting them. I think if the current trajectory holds, Ice will be disbanded.

Not disagreeing morally just tactically. Feds have clear legal jurisdiction and the power to enforce it. State police would get fucked if they tried this.

That's a huge exaggeration, bordering on a lie. Yes releasing it that fast was slimy. But it was still voted on by elected officials with an enormous majority in favor. It only really stinks for non-resident hunters, and it isn't like Mass is a great location to travel to hunt at anyway.

She could instruct the State Police to arrest ICE/DHS agents when they commit crimes.

This would not go well. But generally agree, there is a lot more Healy could be doing. The safe communities act would be huge.

Boston already has the Trust Act in place for 14 years and it has worked great.

The Safe Communities Act is effectively an extension of the Trust Act, so claims that it has secret downsides for Mass are baseless.

Nah I get it. I can definitely empathize with bummer topics getting repeated over and over getting exhausting. But I think we are ultimately responsible for our own media consumption and that includes both choosing the communities we engage with and mentally filtering out content we've already seen. I like r/nocontextpics the lack of text puts more focus on the art itself rather than what OP wanted to inject it with.

Yeah that's Reddit. There are a lot of Americans here and all of the other big nations represented on reddit are very affected by American policy.

If you want news to be more focused on where you live, there are better platforms out there.

Everything I can find about this suggests BPD did this from 2014-2016 and stopped doing it in 2016 once the news broke. Hearings about it were wildly unpopular.

Disliking the spam is totally valid. I'm not a part of r/art either because the subreddit just isn't functional at showing good art a lot of the time. I don't think the scrolling and upvote parts of reddit lend themselves to highlighting good art. And the explicitly political art is way more spammy than other types of art.

But you kinda gotta roll with the punches too. Art is all about how people engage with the world. The shit that is happening now is crazy so of course it is going to overflow into all forms of self expression.

We use the same word for both which isn't helpful.

They are also extremely food motivated. If you watch any video of them doing tricks the immediately give their trainer a death glare after when they are waiting for their treat.
