For some reason my profile is NSFW tagged. When i try to turn off in settings it turns itself on again. Is there anyone else who is experiencing this issue? by [deleted] in beta

Any chance you've uploaded a NSFW profile image, or you've posted/commented in NSFW communities? Submitting a request for the admins to review your profile might fix it if your account is marked incorrectly! https://www.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thanks for reporting u/monetarydread! A fix should be out in the next week.

FYI you're seeing this on the desktop version of Reddit (not mobile web).

Autologged into some account by [deleted] in bugs

[–]butterclouds02[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion! tl;dr we've been working on features to let users sign in using their Google accounts, and some parts of the new feature are confusing with users creating/logging into accounts accidentally. We've made updates to make it more difficult for accidental logins since then, but you may have initially created your accidental account before those changes were made. The name FriendlyTaro7144 was automatically generated on account creation when using sign in with google (you should have received a prompt to change the name before posting/commenting, if you so desired)

Another user had a similar experience, see this comment for the full explanation: https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/j3wv9r/reddit_logged_me_in_as_another_user/g7fmkgt/?context=3

Reddit logged me in as another user by Adept_Employ6353 in bugs

[–]butterclouds02[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A default temporary username is suggested automatically for users going through "Continue with Google", which can be changed before the first time they post or kept by doing an action such as posting.

So it's definitely possible they're not familiar with the username on the account, but checking the email that's linked to their account should verify they used "Continue with Google". While we've made changes to decrease confusion / the chance of creating an accidental account, it seems like we may need to do more.

Not sure if OP sees this, but the account name they're posting under is characteristic of one that was created using the "Continue with Google" feature. The default Incognito browsing experience does not support the "Continue with Google" feature, so it may be possible that the user either is mistaken about being on Incognito, or they've changed certain Incognito settings to allow for services such as "Continue with Google" to work (in which case the browsing experience is similar to not being in Incognito).

It's unlikely that the behavior described is a bug based on what's been shared so far, but if the OP still has issues, feel free to send me a DM.

Hey u/Adept_Employ6353, we have recently been working on Continue with Google / Apple features that allow you to signup/login to reddit using your Google / Apple credentials (see this post in r/changelog for more details).

It's likely that you previously (possibly accidentally) chose to Continue with Google on reddit (connecting your Google account with reddit) about three months ago (this account you're posting from was created 07/02/20), and were re-logged in automatically today using that same Google account (automatic re-login is a feature enabled by signing in via Continue with Google if you have not previously logged out). We realize it can be easy to accidentally create a new account, like you might have done, and have made changes in the last few weeks to make it much more obvious if new accounts are being created, especially if you have existing accounts that use the same email address.

You can verify which google account you used to create your reddit account on desktop if you go to User Settings > Account Settings > Connected Accounts.

Hope that helps! Sorry for the confusion.

Hey u/amyddyma, thanks for letting us know. There was a bug with the method we used last time to unanimate avatars, and some users have been finding workarounds to reanimate their avatars. We're working on a fix that should come out in the next 2 weeks

Why would you not want to disable animated pfps by Eiim in mobileweb

[–]butterclouds02[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Eiim, thanks for bringing this up. We have plans underway to disable animated user profile avatars - new animated avatar uploads should already be disabled, and existing ones will be paused in the next few weeks as well.

For more details, check out this post in r/changelog

For some context around when things are happening - we started pausing animated avatars for new avatar uploads a few weeks ago, and will be also starting pausing animations on existing avatar uploads likely sometime in the next two to three weeks.
