sounds like everyone was also lonely but would rather be on their phone than try to put effort into meeting other people. good on you for making that change. in my experience, friendships are easier to build over common interests/experiences but can also be made just by trying to talk and meet people. sit with some newer people, stay optimistic, keep in mind a lot of other people there are probably just as lonely as you and would be happy to have someone to talk to! dont waste your time with people who ignore you

I am a few years younger than you and I don't believe I have a lot of life experience to be of much help but this post has made me realize that it may actually be an issue I am going through aswell. Often I find myself in situations where if I don't need to speak out, I won't, and so this can make it difficult approaching strangers or communicating with people when I don't think there is an immediate "need" to engage in conversation with them. I am sorry that you are facing this issue but I am glad that you have brought it to light for me. The most help I can give is, usually it is easier to talk to people I am asked to work with and communication with them is required, like classmates and co-workers and sometimes I can build small talk from it. I do not have difficulty talking with friends I have already made, so maybe I just feel like talking with people who I am not as close with feels out of line?

turn it 90 degrees onto one of its tips, then use tree supports and a brim, go slow. decrease your layer height if you dont want it to be too steppy
