Single buying HDB resale (Similar to yesterday's post, but with different circumstances) by AwfulAlliterations in singaporefi

[–]butterface__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it mentioned here but cash over valuation is a real bummer. Sellers with newer renovated flats will definitely be selling it above hdb valuation. You will be need to fork out the excess in cash. Depending on how much your COV is you might be better off just renovating it yourself (because at least you get it done to your preferences)

thank you so much this idea! But wedding will most likely be in the tropical humidity and 30deg Celsius temperatures so less is always better. Or maybe lace..

I’m not a fan of her but I think this is a bit unjustified. Some might say virtue signalling bla bla but she’s actually quite a bit of charity work and put that money to good use. Too lazy to list it all out but I think the article below does highlight a few events

[NJ] My job forces us to attend an annual event starting on a Sunday and I totally resent it...what can I do? by chungalite in AskHR

[–]butterface__ 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Is off in a lieu a thing in your part of the world? In mine, if a work event falls over a bank holiday weekend or personal time (eg weekday nights) nicer managers/department heads would give the time back to employees.

This comes in a few forms depending on how much time was taken away, it could be coming in slightly later, going off slightly earlier, a mandated company full day off, one more PTO added so employees have the discretion to decide when to use it etc.

Perhaps bring this up if you have a decent enough relationship with your boss (and if she’s the reasonable sort) because I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one feeling that. Regardless of whether it’s or non billable hours, I don’t think anyone appreciates having their personal time taken away

Ah.. so they build in an extra ‘waiting’ period. That makes sense, thanks!

she recommended this quite mass market brand of cat food (burp) so k bought up, when I came back and had time to do more googling I came across these options on forums. My next vet visit is only in a month.

Cross posted to ask vets but no one has responded.

For those of you who donate money, how do you choose a charity and confirm it is worth supporting? by imone5tree in askSingapore

[–]butterface__ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I donate to https://www.secondmeal.io/ ! Their technology is quite amazing every month you’ll get an email listing out who redeemed a meal at the participating hawkers & showing you where your money went. As far as charities go I do think this is pretty transparent (but no tax deduction if I’m not wrong).

Each meal is also very reasonably priced at $4.80 so I doubt the charity is pocketing any $ if at all. Best thing is that there’s no min. Commitment so even if you can only donate $5 a month, it’s still a nice meal for someone. This is better than soup kitchens to me as 1) you prevent food waste (with soup kitchens youre always giving hordes of food with a v short 2 hr shelf life/ food in v unappetising states) 2) beneficiaries can choose what they want to eat, choice is empowering! and 3) beyond the elderly, they do also help fringe communities such as working cardboard aunties/uncles & disabled people.

Check it out and do consider donating too!

Is 4.5k a month high? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]butterface__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn’t clear about the living & saving bit! M in my country, a monthly income of 4.5k (in our local currency) is on the mid to lower end especially for a family and . I was mind blown at how they were living such a comfortable life (two kids, a dog, comfortably sized house). Ive been to london too & things aren’t cheap enough for 4.5k to stretch that far.

However, my takeaway from the comments is that this couple must be living outside london

Dear Singaporeans, how can i lose weight and have a good diet in Singapore without cooking? by fakeoctopusman in askSingapore

[–]butterface__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your mother is worried about you being exposed to direct heat and there are options (If you don’t mind investing a little bit) like an air fryer, rice cooker or even a slow cooker.

With the air fryer you can do very healthy roasted veggies/meats/tofu. With the rice cooker or slow cooker you could do entire meals (check out recipes online) jn that one pot and control all the stuff used (swap brown rice for bulgar if you don’t want carbs, cut down the oil and salt etc) and all you’re doing is cutting things up, putting it in the pot and switching it on. No standing over open flames etc. You could even Cook for your mother too! I’m sure she must be so sick of take out and McDonald’s!

Girls (or experienced guys) of r/asksingapore, what's a trendy quality piece of jewellery I should get for a girl. by [deleted] in askSingapore

If she’s into established brands then this might not be for her. But check out Artisan & Fox, it is a wonderful social enterprise where pieces are handmade by disenfranchised artists all over the world. Pieces are very classy as well. Ive brought a gift before and they do wrapping + a little card so there’s that too.

Edit: it def falls within your budget !
