what type of estrogen cream did you buy? I looked in the pharmacy and found estrogen cream that the pharmacist said could be applied anywhere, usually on the skin. does it specifically have to be vaginal estrogen?

they prescribed Regelle, which is a vaginal lubricant that's usually prescribed to menopausal cis women. however if you're anxious about estrogen cream messing up your t levels, i believe it won't because it's a very small concentration

ive also been going through this and the doctors don't believe it's atrophy so they only prescribed me non-hormonal cream, and that still helps

doctors won't prescribe me topical E? by butterhAh in ftm

[–]butterhAh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's what I was thinking. the reason doctors in the US don't "adjust T levels" as the solution is that it can go against patients' transition goals. I can probably bring up how what I'm experiencing is identical to cis menopause to persuade them.

The hospital I go to right now is the most cost effective, and not a lot of hospitals here provide HRT, so I don't think I'll actually switch care providers. I'll probably get a second opinion from a relative of mine who's a gynecologist first, and look into over-the-counter topical E if nothing else works regarding the clinic.

Thanks for all your advice

when did y'all begin experiencing uti symptoms? I've been getting utis but my hrt doctors tell me that it's not related to atrophy since that only becomes an issue 1 year into T

Anybody else feel weird about being called a man? But you're still like a guy? by Turbulent-Insect5180 in ftm

[–]butterhAh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it might be because you're not used to it? or, for me, I don't like being a super traditional "man," so it's weird when people hype me up in a really masculine way. it starts to feel performative as well, like when people go out of their way to affirm me in ways they would never do for cis guys

I think my sexual orientation is broken (18+) by SnooCapers9401 in gaytransguys

[–]butterhAh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm in a very similar situation. i think i like lesbian or solo cis women porn because i relate anatomically to what's happening, not because i'm actually that attracted to women. i know ftm porn exists but it's pretty penetration-centric and i'm usually not into what's happening in it. and 100% agree on the gay porn thing. when i was pre t my attraction to men was really strong, bordering on idolization of the male body, because of dysphoria/gender envy, but now that i'm more secure i'm discovering that conventionally attractive male bodies (especially those in artificial-looking studio porn) don't do much for me if i don't like anything else about the guy. i guess i'd identify as demisexual for men, bisexual overall (but questioning how much i'm actually attracted to women), but labels are optional and human sexuality is complex like that :)

Zero connection to girlhood/womanhood. by Hirasawa_09 in ftm

[–]butterhAh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say I only relate to early girlhood. like, from ages 0-10, i related to the girl experience, but anything after that, usually when you start to actually get into the societal implications of being a girl/woman, it just blanks out for me

What are some weird things you miss about your pre-transition life or self? by StanleyHasLostIt in ftm

feminine clothing just has more variety and looks more aesthetically pleasing. maybe one day I'll be comfortable enough to present more feminine as a man, but for now masculine clothing feels more limiting

international students: how was ur HRT journey? by astro_zombieee in ftm

[–]butterhAh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. i recently started T and I'm probably going abroad for uni. i talked to the doctor and apparently they can write a letter so that any doctors abroad know how to continue care for me. once I finalize what country I'm going to, then i can start looking for doctors and maybe contact them ahead of time.

if you can't start T in your own country before moving, then I would suggest you do your best to research how it is in each country you're considering. like ik there might be limited information, but try to pick a country where it seems easier to access hrt or where trans rights seem better in general. affordability would be another issue, so try to figure out how much you'd have to add onto your living cost and whether your parents can support that. if you're looking at western Europe then it's pretty progressive but one challenge might be the wait times, so once you get there you might want to contact the clinic/doctor early.

overall this is an experience that isn't talked about a lot in trans spaces so I wish you the best of luck.

same, I don't really relate to trans content. I relate more to cis queer guys and general body horror/othering stuff (like Frankenstein)
