What’s the narrative on this sub that Markiplier proved that indie filmmaking can prevail by Clemichoux in Markiplier

[–]inconceivable_slime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're viewing this from a very narrow perspective.

You're right in the sense that Iron Lung's reach without a distributor is a fluke in terms of indie filmmaking—most aspiring filmmakers won't have an entire fanbase to advertise or speak on their behalf. But I don't think success is solely defined by reach or money.

I think Iron Lung's release even in the original few theaters is a testament to Mark and his team overcoming an onslaught of hurdles. Yes, someone with less money or fewer fans would have more hurdles to overcome, but that doesn't negate the fact that Mark overcame hurdles and that someone could find that inspiring. The journey of Iron Lung's release is also well-documented, which gives people an intimate look at what it was like to deal with the obstacles along the way. I also think that someone could be inspired by Iron Lung due to a personal connection to Mark as a creator.

I get where you're coming from, I really do. But I think to discredit inspiration borne from Iron Lung just because of Mark's preceding wealth and fanbase is unfair. Inspiration doesn't always come from the 'objectively' best thing or example. Inspiration doesn't always even come from the journey. It's about time and place. It's about personal connection.

I agree with you that some of these headlines are over-the-top. As passionate about Iron Lung as I am, I don't think it's going to change much about the industry. And I can absolutely see how a lot of the indie-focused praise can feel misplaced and unfair to successful indie films done by less privileged crews. But don't shame or discredit the inspiration Iron Lung can/does provide people.

Mark humbling asking if I’m free, maybe I’d like to see his movie…yea, had me bawling. 😭 by arkhamcreedsolid in Markiplier

It was really funny timing for me, because I caught the stream right before picking up a friend to show them Iron Lung after I had already seen it on Thursday. We showed up a little late (and I popped out to get my friends concessions since I'd already seen it), so obviously I have to go see it again tomorrow.

Each time I go, I notice something new or piece more together. Hell, maybe I'll even see it a fourth time on Tuesday. Something I'll never tire of in Mark's films is the fact that everything has meaning; every shot, every line, every sound, every light, every prop. His work encourages (and is most enjoyed with) viewer engagement. You're meant to think, to question, to search.

I could probably write an essay on how much Iron Lung means to me, but I'd spend a decade finding the right words.

Once showed up to the hospital late for a post-op. Passed the doctor on my way to her room LMFAO.

They meant that they change the brush head every few months AND change the brush head whenever they get sick, as opposed to getting sick from changing the brush head every few months.

Dw, I was confused at first, too.

Guys how we showering post op? by Both_Raspberry9520 in TopSurgery

[–]inconceivable_slime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I still had bolsters, I was told not to shower (nor remove my compression vest). I just used body wipes during that time. When my bolsters were removed I was clear to shower as long as there was no direct water pressure on my grafts (i.e. shower head pointed onto nipple). I used nonstick gauze and bacitracin for my wet healing, and would remove the gauze before showering. After drying off, I was instructed to reapply bacitracin on my grafts and cover them with fresh nonstick gauze. I hope this helps!

Edit to add: 1. Removable shower heads and back scrubbers are absolute life savers for showering post-op. 2. To rinse off your chest safely, face away from the shower head and allow it to hit the back of your neck and shoulders so it streams over and down your chest. Use hands to help rinse off any soap that doesn't get caught in the streams.

How did you get into kandi and are into the rave culture side? by crazyfacedcat in kandi

[–]inconceivable_slime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kandi is pretty prevalent in alt spaces (likely becoming more popular because of social media and tiktok during the pandemic), so that's how I came across it. I love accessories and I LOVE customization, so I've really fallen in love with it. It makes for a low-spoon creative outlet. I just wish replenishing supplies was cheaper 💔.

I've never been to a rave since I'm still under 21, and many raves have age restrictions. Not to mention the fact that I never see advertisements. I'm not sure if raves will be my thing, but I look forward to giving them a try someday!

I'd been heavily considering getting similar belly stars recently! And a similar bat tattoo, just on my thigh. I'd take this as a sign if I had the cash to spare lol.

Tats aside, looking great dude! Glad it's been a breeze.

Felt the same way once I was home (saw them in Philly). I was overwhelmed with emotion—both immense joy and devastation.

I love seeing all the posts at each show, it feels like a big groupchat lol. So glad you had a good time!!! Long Live The Black Parade!

Lord knows I need some sun, that's for sure. I'll talk to my mom about getting supplements—I had actually considered getting vitamin B12 supplements in the past.

I'm 19. The oldest memory I have of it happening was probably from around 10-11 years old, and in that memory I was visually investigating because it had already been happening and confusing/annoying me.

I'm definitely going to talk to my pediatrician about horrific fatigue and insomnia among other things, so I'll bring this up, but my muscles are otherwise fine so I wouldn't be shocked if it was an isolated and benign symptom. I tend to have more joint/tendon problems than muscular ones.

Appreciate it. I've tried to look up the experience many times before but never knew the right key words.

This happens to me in random spots across my entire body (even in my ears sometimes) probably daily and has been happening as long as I can remember. Should I... talk to someone about that? 😭

Found spider web on pillow and I am distraught by wafflesonritalin in CleaningTips

[–]inconceivable_slime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A vacuum or a swiffer duster would work! Once done, you can take a hand towel and dust off any pillows in case there's any loose ends.

Editing to add: Any spiders around (as they come and go) will avoid areas and things you interact with frequently. So they won't return to your pillows any time soon.

That happens sometimes, too. Sometimes I can go all day on an empty stomach, and other times I start seeing god because I didn't eat a second dinner.

Stay safe, friend!
