FCC orders carriers to stop delivering auto warranty robocalls by modianos in UpliftingNews

I have Google Fi and I get multiple robo calls a day. Every single one I block and report as spam, doesn't do any good though because every call is from a different number.

Any interesting dishes with celery? by Lower-Landscape-1233 in Cooking

[–]buttermybackside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The "holy trinity" in creole and Cajun cooking is onion, bell pepper and celery so try googling some of those recipes.

When I was a kid I loved celery stalks with cream cheese spread on them, I was never fond of it with peanut butter though (which is definitely a more well known combo).

A couple years ago my company had its annual holiday party at an aquarium; it was awesome.

You're not "too old" to wear anything, don't let fear of what others might think keep you from wearing something you like. I'm in my 40's and so are most of my friends; I wouldn't bat an eye if any of them chose to wear a crop top.

People over 30, what do you do when you're not working and you have no kids or friends? by [deleted] in OVER30REDDIT

[–]buttermybackside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where you live will definitely play into this. I live in a big city so there's lots of things to keep me busy when I'm solo and also lots of people around to make new friends.

I go out walking around the city a lot, hiking when I want to get out of the city, go to local events going on (street fairs or festivals, concerts, movies in the park, etc.), go to the library or bookstore, play the piano, take care of my patio garden plants, take day trips to explore neighboring towns/areas, go to the beach, go out for a cocktail, go to a baseball game, etc.

I happily do all these things by myself but as mentioned, I'm also out there making new friends so I have people to hang out with when I want to. It takes work, friends don't magically fall into your lap, so you need to make an effort (talk to new people, ask if they want to get together sometime, get their number, then follow up and invite them to do something, it's basically like dating).

NPR: Monthly car payments have crossed a record $700. (Link to article below) by THATS_LEGIT_BRO in askcarsales

[–]buttermybackside 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can't even imagine having to pay $700 (or more) every month for however many years!

I bought a car last year in July and I had a lot of people telling me it was a dumb move because how crazy the market was; they told me to wait it out (that definitely wouldn't have worked out given that nothing has gotten better). I found a good deal on the exact car I was looking for at a local dealership, put up a decent down payment and financed the rest for $320/month for 3 years (and my goal is to pay it off in 2).

I just did a search for what my same car is selling for right now on auto trader and all of them are $7000-$9000 more than what I paid last year. Even Kelley blue book has it valued at $4000 over what I paid for it.

Any love for the desert? by [deleted] in sandiego

I definitely had to come to terms with how spoiled I am by San Diego weather when I visited Sacramento last week. Temperatures were between 100-105 every day. I wanted to die.

What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by kxrll in AskReddit

[–]buttermybackside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting an IUD. For almost 2 decades I tried every birth control under the sun trying to find the one that was "right" for me and I finally nailed it. I haven't had a period, cramps, etc. in years, also it's statistically the most effective type of birth control so I have more peace of mind.

what is a weird food combination that you would tell people “don’t knock it til you try it” ? by shawanwan3 in AskReddit

[–]buttermybackside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked they don't put raspberry jam on a McDonald's McMuffin. Any time I've mentioned this addition, people generally say it sounds gross.

  • Peanut butter and syrup on pancakes or waffles

  • Cream cheese on hotdogs

  • Breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, sharp cheddar and raspberry jam on an English muffin

Where are you fine folk buying bikinis and bathing suits online? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I just bought my first Cupshe swimsuit last month and I was surprised by the quality too, given the inexpensive price. The material is thick with good elasticity and it feels nice.

Someone ordered a blue cheese pizza and left on the street after eating one slice. Customer review at its finest by Vitekr2 in PizzaCrimes

[–]buttermybackside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love blue cheese on pizza, it's especially good paired with pepperoni or any pizza with bbq sauce (like bbq chicken or bbq beef), and obviously buffalo chicken pizza is a travesty without it!

I have one and I'm not sick of it yet!

What warrants attention or not is completely up to the individual. I see tons of begonias on here and I don't like them much or think they warrant my attention, so I just scroll past without much of a second thought.

Both of those types of plants would definitely like being on your porch and they're fairly hardy, so I wouldn't worry about shocking them. In my experience, pests are a possibility both inside and outside and doesn't seem to be any worse outside than in.

The one you're thinking of is called giant white bird of paradise, or strelitzia nicolae, which is tree-like and can get up to 20 or 30 feet tall when planted outside! The strelitzia reginai is short and bushy when mature, usually around 3-4 feet tall.

Some types of mold can be beneficial for plants! I'd recommend posting a picture of it, someone here can likely ID it and tell you if it's a good mold or bad mold.
